Having worked in the hotel industry and stayed in several hotels throughout Ireland, I have to say this was the most disappointing.
I had booked 3 rooms in total. My room had a very damp smell and the duvet cover had slight holes and tears in it. The bathroom facilites were apalling and extremely old fashioned, there was no shower, just a very old rubber hose thrown in the bath, When I went to run a bath it spat out dirt and sand. I phoned reception to inform them of this and she was very unhelpful and told me just to let it run for 5 minutes, this I feel was unaccepatable, however I did let it run but the problem persisted. I went down to reception to complain and was told the bar manager would have a look at it - there was no manager on duty ! On my way back up the stairs I encountered a the remains of a sandwich just thrown on the stairs. Overall I had a very unpleasnt visit and would not recommend this place at all.

The Sacre Coeur do the basics right, i.e it's clean, the showers work, and the service is efficient.

However an accumulation of little things spoiled our 2 day stay. e.g Chipped cups in the bedroom, no shampoo or shower cap in the bathrooms, no communal no-smoking area, and no "good morning" from the breakfast staff. (What we got was a grunt and head jerk - to indicate we should sit down - on both days we were there)

If you were paying B&B rates you probably wouldn't mind, but you're not. You'll be asked to pay full govt hotel rates i.e 52 Euro per head per night. For comparison the weekend we were there Jurys (big chain hotel) was offering a room rate of 72 Euro which is a 30 Euro saving if there's 2 of you travelling. Maybe I'm picky and a bit mean with money but we spent the third night of our stay in a proper B&B for less than half the price. Draw your own conclusions.

To summarise I'd say that the Sacre Coeur isn't big enough to offer...
