The Castle has been closed for some time. It is however:for sale. Stayed there a few times and had dinner there and drinks etc., - lovely grounds - beautiful place - not sure if you can go and look - walk through the grounds or not - will check when I am there this year. They used to have lots... More

Kilkea was the first castle stay on our honeymoon and one of the finest. Our room overlooked the gardens creating a perfect beginning. Superb dinner and service. Lovely grounds for walking and photos. Gracious and elegant without feeling stuffy.

We traveled here on our honeymoon. It was very nice. On our last day there they had a sewage issue which caused quite a stink, but the rest of the time spent there was wonderful! Wonderful food and beautiful rooms! We walked into a very luxurious room with a fresh fruit tray (lots of wonderful fruits including currents), had clean... More

we have just stayed in the Golf lodges as part of a wedding party. The lodge was freezing and desolate surrounded by metal fencing and bare ground it reminded us of a poor Butlins camp ( another guest said Pontins) . we were attending a wedding the next day and were supplied with one hanger between 4 of us and... Cannot believe the prices they charge for the rooms. The bathroom window was covered in mould -disgusting, which they tried to over with a 2nd shower curtain. The bath was filthy. I had to wash it out before I could use it. The room was covered in dust. - would I stay there again - NEVER !

Kilkea Castle is now only open to weddings, somehow I'm not surprised as it needs a complete re-vamp inside, and not just the castle-the staff also. I'm not sure where the management get their sniffy attitude from but someone should tell them that we are no longer in the 1980's, we know who shot JR and its time for a... More

We recently got married and held our Reception at Kilkea Castle, all I can say is that the staff were excellent, the venue is gorgeous and all our requests were catered for. We took all 35 rooms and part of the Golf Lodges. A fantastic place to stay. The food is very good and the grounds are beautiful. If you... More

When you pay Eur 190 for a room, you expect higher standards, but I've stayed in 10 quid a night hostels that were cleaner. The windows were so filthy the room was dark, there were cobwebs inside the room at the window, the light bulbs were gone in the bedside lamps (one of the lamps was actually broken), mouldy smell,... Stayed at the Kilkea Castle golf resort recently. This is one of the best preserved Mediaeval Castles in Europe, the grounds are very well kept and the golf resort has been constructed in harmony with the natural suroundings. The food is a very high standard and the Bar is well stocked but comes at a premium price. The whole package... More
