we have just stayed in the Golf lodges as part of a wedding party. The lodge was freezing and desolate surrounded by metal fencing and bare ground it reminded us of a poor Butlins camp ( another guest said Pontins) . we were attending a wedding the next day and were supplied with one hanger between 4 of us and... more

Cannot believe the prices they charge for the rooms. The bathroom window was covered in mould -disgusting, which they tried to over with a 2nd shower curtain. The bath was filthy. I had to wash it out before I could use it. The room was covered in dust. - would I stay there again - NEVER ! more

Kilkea Castle is now only open to weddings, somehow I'm not surprised as it needs a complete re-vamp inside, and not just the castle-the staff also. I'm not sure where the management get their sniffy attitude from but someone should tell them that we are no longer in the 1980's, we know who shot JR and its time for a... more

We recently got married and held our Reception at Kilkea Castle, all I can say is that the staff were excellent, the venue is gorgeous and all our requests were catered for. We took all 35 rooms and part of the Golf Lodges. A fantastic place to stay. The food is very good and the grounds are beautiful. If you... more

When you pay Eur 190 for a room, you expect higher standards, but I've stayed in 10 quid a night hostels that were cleaner. The windows were so filthy the room was dark, there were cobwebs inside the room at the window, the light bulbs were gone in the bedside lamps (one of the lamps was actually broken), mouldy smell,... more

Stayed at the Kilkea Castle golf resort recently. This is one of the best preserved Mediaeval Castles in Europe, the grounds are very well kept and the golf resort has been constructed in harmony with the natural suroundings. The food is a very high standard and the Bar is well stocked but comes at a premium price. The whole package... more

Kilkea Castle is only open to wedding parties now but I thought I'd write a review anyway in case anyone reading is contemplating staying there for a wedding. I realize that it's an old castle, but for the price I expect cleanliness and comfort...the beds were hard and the bathroom could do with a good cleaning and re-caulking (personal pet... more

A friend and I had been staying in budget accommodation throughout our trip, but decided to splurge on a twin room at Kilkea for 212 Euro. We loved the suit of armour in the hallway, and the medieval 'feel' of the room. The view of the gardens from our room was also great. My friend made use of the pool,... more

Stayed at the Golf Lodges when attending a friends wedding durng the summer. The accommodation was brilliant for a large group, we had three rooms in one lodge which included a lounge and fully equipped kitchen. The rooms were new and very clean. Each room had an ensuite bathroom and a patio onto the golf course. The breakfast (served in... more

After spending the weekend at my brother's wedding at Kilkea Castle I could not recommend or rate the castle highly enough from the moment we checked in on the Thursday, the wedding was on the Friday which was stupendous, until we checked out on the Saturday the staff were more than attentive, the rooms were luxurious and the food was... more
