We recently stayed here for a two night break. Over the last few years I have noted a clear relaxation in quality control for 4 star hotels in Ireland, our stay in this hotel did nothing to disprove this perception. This hotel is centrally located in Portlaoise town. The bed was comfortable and room was a good size. Reception staff... more

This hotel is centrally located in Portlaoise with reasonably friendly staff. The rate was very keen for a hotel of this standard (3 Star in reality), although probably the rate is closer to what Irish hotels should always be charging! I would stay here again. The hotel has a restaurant, Kelly's Foundry, across the road. The food is nice. However,... more

One ends up in places for the oddest reasons; we spent a night in Portlaoise because it was the nearest place to Dublin I could get a booking for my NCT, National Car Test. And even that required booking three months ahead. We stayed in the Heritage because we were heading towards the south-east the next morning and the hotel... more

If you don't mind sleepless nights and unfriendly receptionists, than you have to stay in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel in Ireland. The hotel is situated in the town center close to a railroad and a mainroad. Every truck, passing the railroad tunnel, has to slow down and after slowing down making speed. The hotel is mainly an event center with... more

I stayed recently in this hotel with a golf society and found a gem. Its a town-centre, modern hotel with great ambience, and staff who couldnt be more friendly. We were particularly taken with the restaurant (across the road, oddly) which served the most succulent steak on a hot stone (cook it to your own liking) which was the finest... more

We did not stay at this hotel, however we did stop for something to eat last weekend and it was really terrible, possibly my worst dining experiece ever. We had bar food, 3 sandwiches & tea. The tea was cold & the milk was SOUR. We did complain about the tea & we were given fresh 'hot' tea. My sandwich... more

Myself and wife have just returned from a 2 night break, €64 special on the internet per night, very nice reception/bar/restaurant/coffe shop/gym. Staff were all very friendly, rooms were nice, good size, tea/coffee/biscuits. Would recommend a stay here, less than 5 mins walk to the main st, loads of bars, bar food, bands playing at weekend. Definitley recommend Kelly's Foundry... more

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife and our 4 month old son. Cannot fault the hotel for anything, staff, facilities everything was spot on. Plus we got a super deal for €180 for 2 nights B&B plus one 4 course evening meal - now that's value! The only negative is there isn't much to do or see in... more

Myself and my husband went to a wedding here and were looking forward to our stay after viewing pictures of the rooms on the website. We checked in fairly quickly and made our way to the room to find it didn't look at all like on the website. There was a double bed and a single bed both had different... more
