We stayed for seven days at the Trooperstown Wood Lodge near Laragh and Glendalough and enjoyed every aspect of it. Our room was spacious and clean, thanks to our wonderful housekeeper Erika. There was always tea, coffee and cookies for an afternoon snack , perfect for a hungry hiker. Breakfast consisted of three delicious and satisfying courses at the nearby... more

Arriving in Laragh jet-lagged and tired after flying to Dublin from the US and a pleasant and easy drive to Laragh, John greeted us at his Wicklow Heather B&B, whnich was being renovated, and encouraged us to stay at his nearby Trooperstown Wood Lodge, a purpose-built lodge with modern, comfortable rooms. He personally led us there, showed us to our... more

Like the other reviewers, my husband and I had a really pampered time at Trooperstown and we have already recommended it to our friends. We wondered how it would work out not eating meals on-site but the system of being transported to the fantastic Heathers restaurant by private car at our beck and call worked brilliantly. We were so impressed... more

My family had a excellent recent stay at Trooperstown Lodge. Everything was of a high modern standard and clean and tidy. Hostess Erikka was ever attentive particularly with coffee, tea and biscuits. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast in the restaurant 1 mile away was unusual but turned out to be great with good food in excellent surroundings. We also had... more

I run a small travel business and stayed here with a group in July and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a nice B&B. Being in the travel business, I have a lot of experience of hotels and guesthouses and I have pretty high standards, in order to keep my customers happy. Luckily, the people at Trooperstown... more

The owners itself were actually not there, so they had a someone else covering for them, and she did great. We had a warm welcome with coffee, tea and biscuits. The rooms were large and clean and had a really magnificient view on the Wicklow Mountains. Breakfast is perfect! more

We decided to stay at this B&B because of its location and what other reviewers had to say. We weren't disappointed. This B&B was a very clean and comfortable place to stay. The area is beautiful. The location is very close to Glendalough National Park. Breakfast was at their restaurant, the Wicklow Heather, which was very good. We also had... more

Getting there & around: St.Kevin's bus service (€20 return, 1hr from Dublin: http://www.glendaloughbus.com/) will stop in Laragh right outside the Wicklow Heather restaurant. As Trooperstown Wood Lodge does not have a restaurant in its grounds, John, the owner, along with his excellent, friendly staff will happily provide a free pick-up / drop-off service to and from the Wicklow Heather (also... more
