We were staying in Guernsey for our 40th wedding anniversary and decided as a treat to go to the Old Government Hotel for afternoon tea. We were welcomed at the door by the concierge who kindly escorted us through the hotel where he informed the staff that we would like to have tea in the garden. 25 minutes later, and... more

I stayed with a friend at OGH over the Late May Bank Holiday weekend. Overall the stay was disappointing, but there were a few rays of light. I booked online directly from the hotel web site, which is something I don't normally do but made an exception given there was a 3-for-2 nights promotion. My first impression of the hotel... more

I've stayed in various hotels in Guernsey, and OGH is the best by far. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, the location is fantastic, the breakfast is delicious and the view of the other islands from the Brasserie and garden is spectacular. We will definitely be staying here whenever we come back to Guernsey. Highly recommended. more

It's very rare you go somewhere new for a weekend and end up spending half your time at the hotel - but that's what happened. It's a lovely, relaxing place with friendly, engaging staff (but not in your face like in so many hotels) and some really nice spaces to hang around and read / chat / drink / sweat... more

Spent a long weekend here with the family (7 adults) we wre immediatly made to feel at home but special. In addition to the excellent loction, clean building excellent facilities the staff actually made it that special at every contact they were polite, cared, and always provide a special service. Our last night meal in the brasserie was made even... more

We recently stayed at this hotel for a relaxing birthday break. The hotel was excellent and its customer service, particularly in the restaurants, was exceptional. Everyone was pleasant throughout our 4 day stay including the reception staff, porters, and waiters and all other staff we met throughout the hotel. The food, both in the charming Brasserie restaurant overlooking the gardens,... more

We stayed there with my fiancée for a romantic escapade and being used to travel around the world in the first class hotels I have been sincerely very nicely surprised by the hotel. After a smooth transfer (15') from the airport (really easy to fly there and the flight we had from Gatwick was really nice) - the hotel can... more

OGH is our most favourite hotel. During the period 1980-2009 we have stayed there at least 23 times, sometimes for long weekends of 3 or 4 days and sometimes for our summer holidays over a week or 10 days. In all that time we have been wonderfully impressed with the service provided by the staff and for the warm welcome... more

This hotel IS special. Whatever is written below, it is impossible to truly reflect the way this hotel and it's staff make you feel as though nothing is too much trouble. We stayed for a week in this beautiful hotel and each day we were greeted and helped by staff whose sole aim in life it appeared was to make... more

Once again looked up things on trip advisor and found exactly the right spot. Right in the heart of town but, to our relief, only banks and insurance companies for neighbours so it was quiet at night. This isn't a cheap option, but it suited us very well for a short break before the term starts/after a family funeral. We... more
