My wife and I stayed there for four nights in May 2008 and had very mixed feelings about the place. It's in a great location and relaxing on the terrace overlooking Torbay is a pleasant experience. The bar and bistro are busy and welcoming but you have to be quick to get a table for dinner as the place fills... more

We have just returned from a weekend break at The Berry Head Hotel. We were given room 10, this room must be the smallest room that I have ever stayed in, it would be very small if it were a single room but this room is classed as a double even though it cannot be more than about 8 feet... more

The staff at the hotel were generally friendly. this was probably the hotel's best point (as well as the view, of course). The public areas were generally very dated and tired looking. Our room was very old fashioned and in desperate need of a re-vamp. The food was OK but nothing special, especially breakfast which I thought was disappointing. more

mmmm where do I start. Booked this hotel directly for one night. Sunday the 26th of August to be exact. I must say it is in a beautiful location and has stunning views, and probably lovely food but we didnt stay long enough to try it. On arrival the reception staff were polite enough and the place seemed clean and... more

We booked a two night stay at this hotel and our first impressions were good. The hotel is in a lovely spot, the room was clean and tidy (although not ready when we checked in) and the food was nice. However the problems started that evening. There was a wedding reception taking place at the hotel and the music went... more

Having stayed at this hotel numerous times, I must say that we have ALWAYS found the service, value for money and friendliness of everyone concerned - second to none! Nothing is ever too much trouble for any of the staff or owners. Long may they all reign! (Incidently.....I wonder whether anywhere is good enough for some people) Perhaps they should... more

The hotel, said to be built as a hospital for troops using the local forts during the Napoleonic Wars, and also where the hymn ‘Abide with Me’ was written, is in a delightful position, quiet and overlooking the English Channel. On arrival, the reception was functional, but with no real character or personality. We were directed to room 28, and... more

I am amazed that this person managed to have the time to write such a detailed review of the hotel. Given the time they obviously had the fact that their opening description of the carpet colour is totally incorrect rather highlights the inaccuracies of the remainder of their report. We have been fortunate to receive good reviews from 'trip advisor'...

I stayed one night in November, and was told on arrival that I'd been upgraded to a sea view room. This proved to be on the second floor, up some steep stairs, and with no lift, unfit or elderly guests would find the climb testing. The room was average, with a king size bed with the hardest mattress and pillows... more

The Berry Head hotel is absolutly beautiful. I first stumbled across this hotel in the Summer of 2005. We walked there from Brixham to have some lunch on their terrace. I was gob smacked by the views, they are amazing. The staff are extremely friendly and very accomodating. Myself and my partner booked a weekend break here in October as... more

We stayed on one of the Ocean View/ Balcony rooms over the weekend. The Hotel itself was fine, the food very good, friendly staff...BUT....the bar is directly beneath the Ocean View rooms, the balcony above the Terrace area. The first night we were kept awake by the thumping music from the bar "entertainment", the second night by drunk and foul-mouthed... more
