I don't really understand the bad reviews because this hotel is far from catastrophic. The rooms are very clean, with comfortable beds and a huge bathroom. The staff is friendly and the breakfast is excellent. There is a nice pub in the hotel and you can even sit outside with views of the nice landscape. As this is a hotel,... more

A disappointing hotel. Good points - "Pub atmosphere" in the bar / pub and serves a very good pint from a decent selection. Friendly bar staff happy to carry your drinks to where you are sat.... Big car park. That's about it... Our room was in the "annex" - if that's the right word - which seems to be an... more

Just returned from a 3day BB&Dinner "getaway" break at the Dartmoor Lodge, excellent value for money. Rooms have been recently refurbished, with all the facilities that you need. There is still a lot more refurbishment needed, but when it is finished it will be lovely.Breakfast really good,we like poached eggs,no problem.Evening meal on the offer was a three course off the menu(supplement for... more

Wonderful Experience! My family stayed at the Dartmoor Lodge for 3 nights in August. When I say "family", we were a group of 12 that included 5 children (quite a mob for any hotel to deal with). We took up 5 rooms including the family room. Staff was exceptional. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome. They... more

We have stayed at the Dartmoor Lodge tiwce in the last twelve months. We (My wife and I and 3 kids) have been totally satisfied on both occasions. Our two girls have stayed in one of the rooms over the car park and the rest of us in the ground floor family room. I accept that the decor outside is... more

My initial reaction on driving into the car-park and seeing the exterior of the building was to turn around and try to find accommodation elsewhere. We had chosen this hotel (motel) we stayed simply because we could not find another in the vicinity with a vacancy for the dates we required - there was nowhere else to go. The exterior... more

Having booked with friends we obviously got the short straw on room allocation (Room 308 a great room for midgets or hamsters). Any room where you can open the bathroom door with your foot while laying on the bed should be avoided, it was so small you could only get in the small double bed from one side. The mattress... more

On arrival staff were surly and unhelpful. The family room was large but the decor was old and tired. The mould and peeling paint in the bathroom was off putting, as was the pubic hair in the lower bunk bed which made me suspect that the sheets had not been changed / cleaned between guests. Fortunately the sheets in the... more

We have stayed several times at this hotel and have experienced some kind of problem each time. This week, for example, young staff took advantantage of an absent manager which resulted in such poor service in the restaurant, that we left and drove down the road to eat in another hotel! However, we do return each time because of the... more

We arrived for a one night stay in a double room on a Saturday night with breakfast. We were concerned about what we would find on arrival, however the receptionist was quick and courteous. Our room was tired but did have matching bed cover and curtains.I checked the sheets and they were clean.Carpets do need to be replaced ,and the bathroom,... more
