Beautifully appointed hotel in rural surroudings; room 8 was spacious, clean, and extremely comfortable, with a lovely outlook onto the beautiful gardens. So peaceful. Just spent a midweek break there, booked through Off Peak Luxury Breaks and very good value it was. We had the most relaxing time in a beautiful suite (we did have the upgrade) with good food . A great location for good walking and as a bonus a good pub in easy walking distance. more

We have stayed here on more than one occasion, but the standards have fallen. In particular, as others have noted, the food portions have declined so that many courses are more decorative than nutritional. The gourmet evenings have become a sequence of tiny, forgettable, tasters. The low point on our last visit was a bottle of water for £9! more
