We had always promised ourselves a trip to Dartmoor and a stay at Gidleigh Park. We arrived at the beginning of July and were delighted with the experience. The grounds are beautifully maintained and Michael Caines restaurant lived up to its Michelin 2 star rating! I ordered an expensive bottle of white Burgundy that was not up to scratch and... more

Rooms are small but beautifully well appointed and styled with open plan bathrooms and plenty of amenities but you don't come here for the rooms you come here for the food and we were not disappointed. I am a rather fussy eater but the chef had gone out of his way to ensure taht even the amuse bouche and pre... more

Just one night at Gidleigh was enough to weave a magic spell! Our room (Huccaby) was light, airy with wondeful views of the garden. The a la carte dinner was perfection on a plate - beautifully presented, sublime flavours and definately the largest portions I have eaten at a 2 star restaurant! Most of all, we found the staff and service to... more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights this week (without baby although they do cater for children which is great as often hotels of this standard do not accept children) and it was wonderful. The staff were very helpful online before booking and on arrival. We were upgraded and managed to check in early after flying into Exeter... more

The hotel is in a stunning location, and has superb walking directly on its door step. It also had excellent very well furnished public lounge / bar areas, and had beautifully maintained grounds. Generally, the staff and management were very charming and very professional. Our room was large and very nicely furnished, with a large luxuriously fitted bath / shower.... more

We visited Gidleigh Park on a Saturday for lunch. The food was really good, right from the starter to dessert. They have paid a lot of attention to detail and the food was full of flavour. The staff were extremely polite and friendly too. Getting there is a bit of a trek particularly if the weather is not favourable. I... more

Our second visit here the first just a year ago . Most of the staff the same the charmingly down to earth manager Sue, terribly knowledgeable very young wine waiter , Damien the glad hander and general good egg and of course the superb food. It is expensive -bit like the Manoir you pay the bill and feel the pleasure... more

I booked the hotel as a treat and Gidleigh Park came up to all my expectations. The room, service and food were first class. The hotel even baked me gluten free breads and biscuits. What they could not provide was the snow coating on the beautiful view as we pulled back our curtains in the morning. We just loved this hotel... more

I visited Gidleigh Park with my wife in October of 2007. We drove to the hotel from from London and stopped on the Jurassic Coast and Castle Drogo before arriving at the hotel. The hotel is a bit difficult to find but is surrounded by beautiful grounds. The rooms are tastefully decorated and we were in a room with a... more
