We did an 4 day activity break here. Room was clean as were the washing facilities. Food was good (loved the honey and garlic roasted vegetables) and the local cider sold was very good. Sometimes it was dificult to get served at the YHA bar though Cycle trails and walks were very good however I was disappointed by the town... more
We have just returned from a 9 day holiday spent camping in the grounds of Okehampton YHA. We didn't have the best weather of the summer (July 2009) but had a thoroughly good time. If you thought staying in the hostel was good value - try camping - £20 per night for a family of four. The only other campers... more
Booked in to this hostel online, at the last minute (11pm night before!) for 3 nights with a couple of friends. Aim of the trip was to escape London, work etc and get some nice walks in on Dartmoor - whilst spending as little as possible!! This hostel fitted the bill perfectly. This is an adventure hostel, which means it has activities on offer and caters to prebooked parties. However, it still accepts plenty of individual travellers, and the youth party that were there while my friend and I stayed were kept so busy we barely noticed them. They stayed on a separate floor (not sure if this is always the case)... more
