Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Hotel's Favourite
We tried the New Year package for the first time and absolutely loved it. The welcome when we arrived was lovely with a glass of fizz at check in. The big night itself was fabulous and a special atmosphere being piped into the dining room. The food, as usual, was delicious throughout but a special mention must go to the beef on NYE which was spectacularly good. The only thing that didn’t go plan was the horse racing as we didn’t manage too many winners! Special shout outs to Caroline, Jack and Terry-Louise and the whole team for making it such a memorable break.

We returned to the Thurlestone Hotel for a few days’ relaxation……it didn’t disappoint. Lucky with the weather generally, the hotel’s staff and facilities made our stay very enjoyable indeed. The food and service from the restaurant and adjacent pub were exemplary. A definite recommendation from us to return yet again!

Visited again for our anniversary. Some lovely touches. Out of season but felt there was a lack of flexibility. The restaurant lacked atmosphere and some service felt difficult. Some guests obviously get preferential service / treatment. Expensive treat and overall we left feeling slightly disappointed.

Just celebrated my Mum's 80th Birthday at the Thurlestone and have to say how extremely pleased I was with the service we got, above and beyond expectations. The hotel is in a great situation for walks, beaches , golfing and much more. Rooms are very well presented, and always clean and tidy. Staff are just wonderful, it is great to see people enjoying their work.

Wonderful sea views, Top class dining and breakfast just as we liked it. Spotless everywhere, cheerful and polite staff were helpful and alert to our needs. Easy parking. Our room was a delight with a sea and country view as a peak at the famous Thurlestone rock just to the East.

My parents first brought me to Thurlestone Hotel 46 years ago. Now I bring my family. The hotel has offers luxury but with a relaxed charm that makes everyone feel welcome. The food is excellent both in the restaurant and the connected Inn. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely weekend break in this fantastic hotel. Clean, spacious and comfortable room with everything you need. Recently refurbished spa (which never seems to get too busy) and public areas. Good choice of both hot dishes and buffet for breakfast and an outstanding dinner on both evenings. Friendly, professional service. An excellent hotel in a beautiful setting that isn’t pretentious. Highly recommend.

Our third stay and as excellent as before. Bedrooms comfortable well furnished obviously recently refurbished. Balconies with seaside view add extra space and light from floor to ceiling. Restaurant is 5 star with wide choices and food very well cooked and presented. An excellent team in the kitchen.wine list extensive but many quality wines at reasonable prices. Overall very good value for a few days stay.

A wonderful. Family hotel which welcomes children dogs pensioners and new born babies. Away from thr hustle and bustle of everyday life. One shop, no traffic no city noise. Just relax in the spa or admire the costal views, sit in front of a log fire. A Great getaway place from London
