The hotel rooms are shabby and in need of updating but comfortable and acceptable for the price paid and it was only a 2 night stay. Make sure you book a room at the back of the hotel rather than the front as the main road through Bampton is very busy at times and noisy.
The biggest surprise is the food which is great, plenty of it and delicious, we ate at the restaurant for the two nights we stayed and did not bother to look anywhere else.The restaurant itself is very pleasant and relaxed and seemed popular.
The owners were very pleasant and changed our room at the front of the hotel to one at the back when requested because of the traffic noise. If they hadn't been able to accomodate us we would have booked out before staying a night because of the traffic noise.
A good base to travel around the area.
If you don't stay at the hotel when in the area atleast try the restaurant it's worth it.
