We have recently returned fom a short break at the Royal Hotel. The age ranges in our party of 6 were from 6 months to 73 years and all were well-catered for. The public areas of the hotel were spacious, comfortable and clean. Our spacious room was in the process of being redecorated but was spotlessly clean, had a comfortable... more

We stayed at this hotel about 13 years ago and it was just the same. Unfortunately ! We remembered it being great for people with kids and it is, to be fair. The staff are generally very nice and helpful and it was pretty busy. It is a large hotel with plenty of room. The entertainment room is quite good... more

We made a return trip to The Royal with two of my sons aged 10 and 14, as we enjoyed it so much last year. Yes, it is like staying at the hotel version of a 1950s holiday camp, yes, the decor has seen better days, and the clientele are certainly not A list, but for sheer value for money,... more

Stayed for 2 nights in July whilst visiting friends in the area. We paid £50 per person per night via SuperBreak for B&B and it was not worth the money by a long shot. Parts of the hotel may well have been renovated such as the lobby area, but the rest was tired, dated and shabby. On parking at the... more

this hotel wants condemning by the local council, its an absolute hovel. So much so that I wouldn't let my 2 year old jump on the bed while I tried to find us somewhere else to stay which thank god I did. I didnt even ask for my £50 deposit back I just couldnt wait to get out of there.... more

I decided to have a few days away with my wife and 4 year old daughter during the half term week. The hotel has plenty of parking and is located in a lovely spot with fantastic views across the valley. The hotel has the old fashioned feel of the kind of place I went to as a kid. However, we... more

I worked at the Royal Hotel in Woolacombe when it was called the Combes Hotel in the early 1980's. Frankly the decor hasn't changed since, I still recognise the wallpaper and furniture. We had issues with the flat roof and continual leaks whenever it rained and no repairs ever completely cured the problem but we never smelt damp and the... more
