great campsite absolutely loved it stayed for 5 days and 4 nights in sunny side apartment arrival was very welcoming and friendly staff. was allowed to use the pool when arrived waiting for the apartment. great entertainment at night ending with karaoke. many things for kids to do on the site. signal was very good!!! had signal around the whole park. only downside was there wasn’t a walk path down to the beach but you can park at woolacombe bay campsite and walk down. Been going to devon for many years and this holiday was the best holiday we’ve had after having a bad holiday the year before. overall great park and will be reternijg this year!!!

After a swift check-in by the unbelievably friendly reception manager, i journeyed on to my fantastic caravan tucked away in cleavewood 27, I opened the door and was blown away, not by the beauty of the location or interior, but by a peculiar odour, I proceeded with caution with my guard up as I followed the location of the smell like a bloodhound.. I tiptoed through my caravan to open the toilet seat and to my shocking surprise, a monstrous stiff turd was poking out of the water, like a hippo or crocodile in a lake, staring at me. Not only was I stunned by the size of the brown beast, but more so that the cleaners overlooked this creature. I then flushed the toilet to drown the beast however the smell still lingered, I reported it to the reception team, and by golly, within 15 minutes the A-Team of housekeeping and maintenance swooped by with a can of kick ass (fabreze) to wipe the ghost smell away, ready to enjoy my holiday! Thanks for the speedy solution.

We all had a great holiday here. The location is great but it's a shame you can't walk to the beach. The children loved the entertainment and it was in a great venue. Queues could be abit long for bar but to be expected in school holidays. We did crazy golf (free) which kids enjoyed, lots of swimming including the pool party and kids loved the arcade. Lots of stuff to do on a great site at a reasonable cost.

Great value site with lots to do on site and only a few mins away from the beach. Couldn't give full marks as i was travelling in my motor-home and it says the pitches are level so i booked there best "super pitch" but it was completely unlevel and even though i have rear air suspension and wedges i could not get the motor-home level, after 3 days of putting up with it i asked them if i could move to another pitch, they said yes as there were lots available. Most pitches are very unlevel which you can easily see. If they can sort that issue out then i would certainly give a 5 out of 5.

Stayed at Cleavewood in a New Wave Exclusive Caravan which was spotless when we arrived. Was surprised to see a welcome pack with Wine and Biscuits etc, lovely touch 👍 Having been coming to Cleavewood on and off for nearly 40 years, it holds lovely memories, so it was sad to see Cleavewood Manor House looking a bit neglected, with the old outdoor pool filled in with 4 Caravans squeezed onto the space and the indoor pool no longer open. Also told the apartments are now staff quarters which is a shame as its such a lovely building. The grounds are still kept well tho, although being October there were a number of caravans on the move. Also a bit of a shame to see Verdant have decided to sell the caravans in the top half of the park, leaving holiday makers to be left with the lower half with no views.. The entertainment team at Golden coast were excellent and have to say the evening programme was loved by our kids, top marks to the team 👍 In fact I would say that all the staff were polite, professional and friendly. Food at both the club house and Old Mill was ok, tasted better with the kids eating free! All in all, we really enjoyed the half term break and hope that Verdant Leisure continues to invest in the park and bring Cleavewood back to life! Will definitely return and thanks for a great holiday!

Cleavewood - Worst Caravan ever. Damp with Depressing location We stopped at Verdant Leisure - Cleavewood Caravans, part of Golden Coast site the end of September into October. What a depressing dirty place stuck in the 80’s. Our first impressions on arriving it felt like a deserted holiday park, hardly anyone about. We were allocated Caravan 69 at the bottom of the park. We've stopped in hundreds of caravans over many years and had good and bad ones, but this one was by far the worst and most dirty, tired and damp smelling van ever. By the time we checked in after a long 7 hour drive, got unpacked and noticed the state of the Van we had missed reception opening time so had no choice but to sleep there. A few of the worst points we noted: -The van was very old, very tired and should have been scrapped years ago. -The whole van had a damp smell. Other caravans must have been the same as during the Sunday we saw all the other empty vans have their windows and doors open ventilating them. -The sofas were disgusting and had stains and dirt on them, a 10min job with an aquavac would have given them a clean to at least liveable standards. -The cushions on the sofa were flat and provided no comfort when sitting on them, the sponge inside had given up the ghost years ago it seemed. -The mattresses looked like they were from 1980 and I dread to think what the stains were on them, no mattress protectors on them and the cheapest plastic type pillows we've ever experienced. So uncomfortable, was like sleeping on a pillow of carrier bags -The bedroom net curtain had black mould on it -Fridge had bubbling paint on the front and a broken shelf inside which was propped up to make it look like it was ok, until I put something in it and it fell off and broke my eggs. -General cleanliness of the van was terrible, dust, hair around radiators. -Extractor fan had mould growing out of it, totally disgusting. -TV had 2 channels with signal, if you were lucky. -There is no mobile signal on site, this is not mentioned anywhere, but they have full free site wide wifi. Which doesn't work unless you are in the pub. Funny that. And when we complained about the wifi/mobile we were told it’s like that everywhere here…. Yet when we moved to Woolacombe Sands 2 minutes down the road, wifi and mobile signal were brilliant, more lies from Verdant. We complained about the Wifi the following morning and got such an offhand, can't be bothered or do anything about it response we didn't bother complaining about the rest as the attitude was so disgusting we just left and decided to check other local sites to see what availability they had as we didn't want to stop another day in this depressing dirty location We could no longer suffer the state of the caravan and checked out 5 days early and left to go to Woolacombe Sands 2 minutes down the road, what a lovely site, great views, fresh clean vans, no mould, damp or anything and the reception people there were amazing. When we called in the day before to see what availability they had they said “Verdant - Cleavewood was their most popular customer” which says a lot. While checking out at Cleavewood we told the reception manager the many points above, they tried to say we could have been upgraded into other accommodation if we asked, but if they considered our accommodation fit for humans then we didn't want to find out how bad the rest of the site was, we just wanted out. The reception manager fetched someone senior, she was fairly accepting of the situation (maybe as another customer as checking in at the side of me) and said we'd be fully entitled to a partial refund due to our experience and us not stopping for the whole holiday. She said she would contact head office for us and there was no need for us to do this. A while later we received an email saying sorry to hear about your stay here's £100 voucher to spend on your next booking with us which needs to be before March 31st... I mean, come on.... no partial refund at all. We contacted them back and they said after checking with site they denied ever saying we were due a partial refund, basically calling us liars. That was disappointing and a bare faced lie. We responded and they blanked us, never replying. To be fair they did eventually refund the £100 voucher to my card, but still that wasn’t even half of the cost. We will never ever use Verdant sites ever again after this experience and recommend anyone else does research fully before staying as the caravans on Cleavewood are ancient, disgusting and probably a public health hazard.

Had a lovely long weekend. Stayed in a Lodge. The entertainment staff are amazing. They are the glue that keep this place going. Vinnie Entertainment Manager, Nancy-very talented singer and dancer, as well as Sam -and also all looking after the kids and helping them have a great time. They were always there and worked so hard. Sami the hard working server/glass collector also. Would recommend visiting Woolacombe beach and village. We ate at The Depot on the roundabout before u get to the site-very lovely food and cool interior. Mainly pizzas(but great ones!!) burgers,(but great ones!!) tacos, and some specials . Have a roast on Sunday til about 2.30pm (advisable to book and let them know if u want roast specifically . It is not a buffet roast)Hands on Owner/manager runs it professionally-really knows what he’s doing. Also went to The Kings Arms Georgeham lovely little pub with gorgeous food (there is a car park - turn left after pub) .

Went for a family break. Not much for toddlers to do at all and the music in the entertainment area is far too loud you can barely hear yourself think. We had a two storey house. There wasn’t one door in the property that would fully close and with a toddler this proved to be very difficult. We did ask for a stair gate which was refused (health and safety) bedroom door didn’t close and considering the rooms were apparently refurbished in 2023, apart from the carpet I cannot see how?! Kitchen was very small the fridge also very small the bathroom was average how the flooring was lifting at you stepped out of the shower, I am assuming though so much water over time and not having been kept properly. Bedrooms were spacious beds average but could do with renewing. The rooms were very cold and our rads didn’t really heat up. I would say the overall condition of the rooms were very average (if you’re in one of the houses) Entertainment was average food was average. There really isn’t much to do here as advertised. Most outdoor things were closed. We didn’t bother with the pool as it didn’t look great. Amusements were average however bowling did look good. We will not be returning again.

We went here for a long weekend as a family of four, 2 young little ones. We stayed in a hot tub villa- the hot tub was clean & checked twice a day by a lifeguard, the villa itself was lovely actually bigger than our own home. All bedrooms had area we could move the beds & put travel cots up. Bathroom was nice and simple to use, shower always hot. Kitchen was simple & clean, exactly what we needed/expected. The let down was the activities, soft play didn’t open till 12pm so find something to do with your little ones beforehand. The crazy/mini golf was old & neglected lent again a post (I’m a small women) it was rotten and toppled over 🤣 the whole of the mini gold was covered in leafs which had evidently been left to continuously pile up so playing golf was somewhat a mission, however this activity was free so laughing it of was no bother. The pool was a simple rectangle swimming pool, arcade was standard & the bowling was good at the time we went 2 games for the price of 1 which was very much worth it. Food was your standard pub sort of food & was good, always served fast too. The receptionists was absolutely amazing with meeting our needs & putting my parents in a different villa as they were put in an unkept room, couldn’t give the receptionist enough credit. The entertainment team where absolutely incredible however overworked, we watched one women within the entertainment evening team run a swim event for children which was on every night & have a 10 minute turn around if that to then start the evening entertainment. We wouldn’t go here again but it was a good stay, this was our 2nd visit but needs some TLC now.
