A first visit for a Saturday lunch - stunning herring starter- totally to recommend- and all dishes were good and well presented. Disappointed not to see even more Austrian cuisine on the menu, as they were so good and unusual. A really well chosen wine list, with super pudding wines and a good selection of malts. The house is charming... More

Re: LOVELY PLACE TO STAY -SHAME ABOUT ----We are at a loss to understand what you mean about "screaming kids". We do not take small children, we stand in peaceful 10 acres of parkland. However, the noise they have objected to was the calling for food by the young Jackdaws which are nesting in the 200 year copper beach, unfortunatly that... More

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in late May and everything was perfect. Our room (number 4) was very spacious, the bed was super comfortable and the huge bathroom had double sinks, a tub, and a great shower. The owner, Nita, met us at the front steps with a firm handshake and even her husband Peter came... More

We stayed here for a night before a wedding in a nearby village, so were just on a B&B rate. The welcome is very warm indeed, and the house gives a good first impression (quite grandly furnished in old country house style, lovely long driveway, pretty managed gardens). The bedroom and en suite were both spacious, but the furnishings (think... More

My sister and I recently stayed one night in this excellent bed and breakfast - I only wish it had been longer. Nita and Peter Hauser are excellent hosts with each handling what they do best - Peter as the chef and Nita as the "lady of the house." The gardens were beautiful, the food superb and the overall feel... More

We enjoyed two days away over New Year in the lovely North Dorset countryside. Stock Hill at the end of its woodland drive is pleasantly secluded. There's a wonderful warm welcome waiting you from Nina. We were a little disappointed with an initially chilly room in the annex: we'd have done better I know with a room in the main... More

Not so much a hotel as a house party to stay with friends. Nothing is too much trouble even to the point of making surprise additions to the programme. Excellent food, comfortable accommodation and charming owners and hosts, Nita and Peter Hauser. They never forgot my name! We had a wonderful break to celebrate the arrival of 2013, cocktails, dinner,... More

Have stayed at Stock Hill many times over many years and have always found the standards here very impressive. The accommodation is immaculate, the restaurant menu very often quite exciting and the food beautifully prepared and presented. It is well worth splashing out on room 4 (Magnolia) - it has the most astounding bathroom I have come across in any... More

I took my wife here for a surprise birthday meal. As her birthday is on 22nd December, it is usually difficult to find a venue which is not heaving with office parties and the resultant noise, poor food and service. However we had no such problems at Stock Hill House. Nita the co-owner welcomed us warmly and her staff were... More

We were a party of twelve brothers and sisters all of a certain age and allstill enjoying one anothers company enough to get together every couple of months.
