Stayed 2 nights and whilst the bedrooms arent anything to wrtite home about this place well makes up for that in food, wine and great service. I travel wordwide and my expectations of good food combined with great service are sometimes hard to meet. The establishment was very busy for dinner both nights I was there however all appeared efficient.... more

We booked here because of location, easy to day trip into edinburgh and also because of recomendation. The hotel main building dated back to 1650 ish so the stone walls do hamper room size. However the hotel has character!! We arrived on sunday and stayed 3 nights and had excellent stay. Food and service were excellent and cost was within the... more

The room I had at the Kilspindie House was large, clean and very comfortable. The bathroom whilst in need of some modernisation was big with full bath and shower. I wasn't terribly impressed with the restaurant, only ate here once - maybe I got the chef on a bad day but the evening meal was not good, breakfasts were delicious... more

i stayed here with my partner the weekend of my friends wedding. The room cost £95 so I was expecting something pretty good. As it turned out, our room was absolutely tiny, it looked as if it hadnt been decorated since the 70s, the bed was uncomfortable, and the bath looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a month! It... more

It cost me £194 B&B for two rooms for one night here for 4 people. I expected something pretty good for that sort of price and was very, very disappointed to be met with some very dull decor, limited room space, small and very old fashioned bathrooms (coloured suite - need I say more?). Last time I paid that sort... more

When I read the reviews here before booking I thought, maybe not... But I stay in a lot of hotels, sometimes business, sometimes pleasure, and a gut instinct told me to book. I'm glad I did. The wife and I had a tremendous time. The bar's good, the locals and staff are friendly, and even the proprietor dropped in for... more

We went for the food, and it certainly lived up to their reputation. a really enjoyable dinner, and the wines were fabulous. The atmosphere was really easy which suits us nicely, the service was pretty sharp . The building may need a little overall attention to detail, but the proprietor has only been in a couple of seasons, and we... more

Having booked into Premier Travel Inns and a Travellodge for the 8 nights of our recent "Castle Tours" holiday, I wanted to treat us for our last night and booked this lovely sounding hotel via Visit Scotland's excellent phone service (on a rather shaky mobile connection traveling through the Highlands!). After an excellent week of cheap motels, this really was... more

I have not to date responded to Trip Advisor reviews but this is so misconceived it occurs to me to give it to my layer. The large glass of wine to which she refers contains 1/3 of a bottle at a cost of £4.20 not £5 Multiply by three and you get £12.60. The bottle costs £10.50. We have therefore...

I recon I stay at over 50 hotels per year, so I would say I am pretty knowledgeable about hotel expectations. We had originally planned to stay in Edinburgh, but most hotels were full or very overpriced, so we went for Ducks (I believe it is called Ducks because it is the surname of the proprietor). Having read the other... more

This seems to be the article that starts the conned theme. I respond at the same time as I do to the two above and will try not to let my ire attach to your comments. A la carte meals are served in the restaurant and bar meals in the bar. This is explained to guests at check in each...
