Based on Previous comments we upgraded to the Main Building. Highly recommend that this be done based on other comments. The room was very large with lovely sitting area as well. The bathroom was my only complaint as there was not much room. Breakfast was lovely. I would also add that it would be nice to add Oatmeal to breakfast... more

Stayed at this hotel for one night following a family members wedding, as they had recommended the hotel I did not look at any reviews as I normally would have - wish I had. We paid £90 for one of the lodge rooms and my husband and I were hoing for a romantic night together. This is the last thing... more

We spent 5 nights a\t this hotel and were very impressed with everything about it - the service, the atmosphere and the breakfast. There was convenient shuttle service to the train and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Highly recommended more

We were a little apprehensive about the hotel since the rates were quite low (£56.50 per night) but upon arrival we pleasantly suprised to find that the hotel is located in a beautiful private estate and the hotel itself is gorgeous. The room we stayed in seemed very new (recently renovated?) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's... more

We booked a lodge room described on the website as "modest". Imagine the disappointment to arrive in a room that barely held a double bed. Any spare floorspace was taken up entirely once we set our suitcases down. After travelling for 7 hours this was not a good start to the weekend. I went to reception to express my concerns... more

I feel that the previous reviewer was very unfortunate in the room that they were given. My husband and I were there at the same time and cannot fault the room that we were in - superior turret room. As it was Edinburgh Fringe time hotels were, indeed, very few and far between. We selected this one as 'they' stated... more

We reserved two rooms for a weekend break and although the main hotel was empty, we were given the side lodges instead. Here we found that the bed linen was not cleaned, the bathroom floor was full of fungus and the plumbing was faulty in both rooms!! When we notified the hotel staff, due to "communication" issues they could not... more

We (family of 4) stayed here last summer (Aug 08)- a friend booked the room for us because rooms in Edinburgh were not to be found (during the fringe festival) and neither he nor we knew what to expect except it was outside of town. This was a beautiful old building and our room was very large (plenty of room... more

This was a last minute internet booking from Dublin at 10pm on a Friday, on the eve of the Heineken Cup Rugby final in Edinburgh the following day, which my son and I attended.I couldn't believe the price - total Stg 90 for the room inclusive of full Scottish Breakfast( remarkable given rooms were like gold-dust and were charging ,if... more

I travelled to this hotel via public transport. It was easy to get a train to Wallyford from Edinburgh Waverley (cost less than £3-4), then a taxi from there to the hotel (about £6). Wallyford is a small, quiet station so there generally aren't taxis hanging about so it's a good idea to get hold of a number to call... more
