On arrival a very warm welcome from Helen who showed us to our room, which was warm, cosy and very comfortable, an extra heater was in the room if we needed it as the nights are a bit chilly. Went down to breakfast with another warm welcome, the breakfast was plentiful and very well cooked. Parking outside the door was... More

My sister and I arrived at Caiplie house with my little dog accompanying us and were immediately told that we were having our twin room upgraded to the superior suite. We were delighted to be shown to this lovely room - room 4 and had plenty of room to move around and had a room each also. The rooms had... More

We recently stopped at Caiplie House during a short break for a couple of days travelling around the Fife coast. The character house is in lovely position on the main street of Crail with parking available right outside. Easy walking distance to the local pub and access down to the beautiful quaint harbour. Only a short drive along the coast... More

We stayed for 2 nights when our dog went into the vets nearby. We tried to phone several times and at several different times of the day to confirm our booking as I had not got the confirmation email sent to confirm,( I think it may have been taken down wrong).No-one answered so I sent an email saying we may... Hi Marge, Thanks for your very honest review. I appreciate how you can give critical feedback without being totally negative and still point out what you did like about Caiplie. Sorry about the poor service before and during your stay. As things pick up for the season this is a shot over our bows to waken up, answer the phone... More

I don't usually write reviews but the Caiplie House really does deserve a mention. We (2 adults, one 5 y/old and one 3y/old had two nights in room 4. A really nice main room with another bedroom and bathroom. Excellent for the kids - plenty space and the game table really is a delight for adults and kids - chess,... More

Very comfortable, with very friendly and welcoming proprieters. Good value with nice ensuite included. The house is very attractive with an interesting history and right in the hear of Crail. Attention to detail was not all it might have been - the en-suite was newly decorated, but the paintwork was not finished to a high standard. The bathmat was also... More

As someone partly brought up in Fife, who went to University in St Andrews and also worked there back in the 1980s, I decided I was well overdue a return to the East Fife coast and booked in for 6 nights dinner, bed & breakfast at Caiplie. Helen and her son Ian (co-managers) were very welcoming and I had room... More

Our third annual trip to the East Neuk of Fife: Pittenweem, Anstruther and this year Crail. There's a good choice of accomodation in the area as it's understandably very popular, so a search around websites was essential to find the right place. Caiplie House looks like the right place: centre of town, friendly and relaxed, high standard of accomodation. We... More

Hi Ross, Thanks for your review which we see as good feedback which we can use to improve in what we offer and how we deliver our service. The most worrying point for me is that you feel that we did not deliver on our website promise. I understand that the website states I cook for guests which as you... More

A nice guest house in a beautiful village. The lady is very nice and the breakfast is just great. the guest house is just on the main road of this small village but you can see the ocean from here. The rooms are pretty small ( at least our) but clean and cozy

We had asked for a room with two single beds for me and my sister and her dog and were given a great family suite at the top of the house with stunning views ( and we even had sun, blue sky and deep blue sea to look at!). Helen was very helpful - she told us of the DVDs... More
