If Arran is a miniature Scotland, with its full sweep of mountains, seacoast, moors and quaint villages, the Glenn House is the epitome of Scottish hospitality. A very easy walk along the foreshore takes you into Brodick and a very pleasant evening stroll takes you to Brodick Castle and its gardens. You are well-situated here for walking or traveling to any part of the island.
Built in 1926, this detached two-storey home is charming, set back from the road with a lovely back garden and rowan tree. Nan, the hostess, is a native of Arran and charms you from the minute you arrive. You have use of a lovely living room area and the dining room as well as your room upstairs. Over a cup of tea, we chatted a bit about the sights, the local history and were provided with a selection of books about the local sights, geology, bird life and walks. If Fran doesn’t know about it, then it probably isn’t worth knowing, when it comes to Arran.
