There are great ever changing views over to Rousay, a quiet situation, and great facilities,, but what made this so special was the hospitality offered by Jim and Denise, they gave us the run of the house, the use of their extensive library on all things Orcadian, advice and help on what to do, delicious food and great company. We stayed at Castlehill for three nights over a weekend and had a wondeful time. The G&T in the hot tub at dusk followed by a wonderful meal with fantastic red wine ensured that we slept well. The following morning we woke up to freshly baked hot cheese scones , it was all fantastic.thank you Jim and Denise

In the last decade my wife and I have been mosr fortunate to travel abroad every year, and we have stayed in many fine B&Bs in Europe, North America and Asia, and none has been ebtter than Castlehill. The Hosts are as infectiously enthusiastic for what they do and how they do it as any we have encountered. It is... More

Our second visit to Castlehill was once again very enjoyable. We were extremely well looked after and all meals were outstanding. As Peter F comments, the smoked haddock and poached eggs are a must. Jim and Denise are terrific hosts so welcoming.Evening meals with other guests and family were very enjoyable. We look forward to our next visit.

Castlehill is excellent. The amenities are are exemplary; clean and well serviced. Jim and Denise are terrific hosts making you feel like one of the family. Their passion for fine Orcadian food is obvious and they keep a great table. Breakfast particularly is a treat...the smoked haddock and poached eggs fabulous and the bacon and eggs to die for. If... We stayed here for two nights on a cycle touring holiday and could not have been made to feel more welcome by Jim and Denise. As soon as we arrived we were given tea and a piece of Denise's delicious home-made shortbread. Jim and Denise's home is lovely, tastefully decorated and immaculately clean and in a wonderful position with views... More

Unfortunately we were only able to spend 2 days in The Orkneys after our Lands End To John O'Groats cycle ride. How fortunate we were to choose Castlehill! Jim and Denise are great hosts and wonderful cooks. Waking up to the aroma of Denise's baking really gets the gastronomic juices going and Jim's fresh Haddock and Mackerel breakfasts and Salmon... Jim and Denise were excellent hosts, and we were made to feel extremely welcome in their home. We felt more like friends and enjoyed our evenings with them and the other guests. We stayed for three nights, and having sampled the food and drink on the first night, had no reason to go anywhere else to eat. It was excellent... More

Jim and Denise make you feel welcome from the word go and keep on doing so. We know, since we have been there for the fourth time. The room - with a view across the sound to Rousay - was bright, cosy and impeccably clean, as always. Everything in it is to the highest standards and blends state of the... More
