Our 15th year visiting wildside and yet again another great stay. We saw deer , rabbits and red squirrel plus pheasants and a ton of birds. We changed things up this time visiting colloden battlefield and avimore and the cairngorm mountains - breathtaking. The lodge did not disappoint and was very roomy for us. The hottub wasn’t overly private but didn’t bother us - may others. I want to give extra credit to the gent from reception who helped me fit a spare tyre after hitting a bad pothole I had been panicking all night about how I would get it repaired in time for the journey home in the morning. He helped me find a tyre place in Inverness and allowed us additional time in the lodge did we need it. Thank you for a great stay

Property's Favourite Review
We booked this holiday having never experienced anything like this before. We’re usually an all inclusive sunny, sit round the pool family but I wanted to do something different this time. Due to it’s proximity to Loch Ness we chose the Wildside Highland Lodges and prior to arriving I sent numerous emails to Lisa there. She couldn’t have been more helpful, explaining we could have supermarket deliveries made and how to arrange them, recommending the local pub/restaurant and explaining the local area. When we arrived (after a 13 hour drive from London) the lodge was exactly what we needed! Comfortable, very homely, and with everything we needed. The lodge was perfectly clean and tidy and the bedrooms made up for us. The local scenery is absolutely breathtaking, every corner you turn leads to a different picture from a shortbread tin! I’ve never experienced a holiday like it. We took our 2 dogs and were out every day with them. The walks are limitless. We also climbed Beinn Sgurrach (if I’ve spelt that right) a 500 or so metre mountain within a 1/2 hour walk and viewable from the lodges. It was a tough walk but very achievable for us townies and the views were stunning. The Whitebridge Hotel within walking distance has excellent food and drink, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook a decent family meal so although we felt we were in the middle of nowhere, we had everything we needed. The hot tub is a fantastic addition, and really helps to relieve tired legs after long walks. I’ve read a few reviews on here, and have to question some of them. Regardless of what lodge you have they are all entirely unoverlooked and you have complete privacy. There are absolutely no issues with vehicles or any traffic noise, and the level of cleanliness when we arrived was exactly what I’d expect. If you want a complete getaway to unwind, relax and enjoy nature (we saw deers, hares, lots of sheep, cattle, red kites within short walks of the lodge) then this is definitely for you. As I say, not like any previous holiday, but I’ll be making enquiries very soon to book again for next year. A huge thank you to Lisa and the team for a wonderful family holiday.

Stayed in Ptarmigan which has undergone a wonderful facelift. Beautiful new comfy sofa and mattress in master bedroom (though one before was comfy too) my youngest son (who is Autistic) declared he doesn’t want to stay in any other lodge! It’s his favourite. Staff, who are more friends now, were absolutely fabulous as usual. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

Very comfortable Lodge. Good central heating, well equipped, excellent shower, and a reasonable distance from the other Lodges. Lovely , peaceful woodland, beautiful views; saw many birds including a tree-creeper, a well- fed pheasant who managed to flutter up onto our tiny bird table, a deer very close to the Lodge, just the once, and a red squirrel, twice. The Staff were absolutely fantastic; keen to solve any problem immediately; very friendly with lots of excellent advice. Couldn’t be better. Highly recommended.

Fabulous stay in the lodges with tranquil stream and wildlife on view all around, Staff were friendly and helpful with lovely trails that are on the doorstep. Accommodation was clean and tidy and the rustic log burner made for a cosy atmosphere after relaxing in the hot tub. The local pub serves good food and an authentic highland experience.

Stayed for a week in the Pine Marten Lodge and was a bit nervous after reading some reviews. However we loved our week, the lodge was in a beautiful location and we spent time watching the red squirrels, Sika and Fallow deer, rabbits, hares and hedgehogs from the comfort of the lodge so be prepared with plenty of nuts as well as bird food for all the birds. The bed and settee was comfy and the lodge clean. Yes we had no network which wasn't just the park but also the surrounding area however if you wanted to check up on things wi-fi was available near reception. The staff that we met were friendly and helpful. You just need to forward plan on meals and shop whilst out and about. We ate at the Whitebridge Hotel twice and the food and staff was excellent. We will be back next year.

Our sixth visit to Wildside and fifth in the Red Deer lodge. Lodge was lovely and clean upon arrival. The sofa had been upgraded with a nice new, longer and more comfortable sofa. The hot tub heated up in a matter of hours and was perfectly timed for an evening dip. Cupboards are well stocked with all the pots and pans and plates and cutlery you'll need for a self catering stay. We had a much earlier ferry trip due to the winter timeable and Wildside accommodated us perfectly by letting us check in early and get our holiday started. From Red Deer lodge the Wifi is out of range, as is mobile signal, but we find this a big positive when we come to stay. It allows us to switch off from the usual scrolling. Can always pop up towards reception to get connected if you need to get any updates. We stayed with our two large dogs and there was adequate room. The deck had a removable gate which allowed them to have a bit of time outside on the deck. There are plenty of nice walks in the immediate area that you do not need to drive to. Even after 5 previous stays we enjoyed a walk in an area we were yet to explore. It is also just a short drive to a few other sights and walks to Foyers and Fort Augustus. We seen plenty of wildlife in the Wildside grounds during our stay, including deer, pheasants, birds and a very busy red squirrel. In the evening, since our very first stay at Red Deer lodge, we've always seen a solitary bat flying around outside the window. Swooping around the trees as it starts to get dark. Red Deer lodge has a lovely view and catches the sun throughout the day. Another lovely, peaceful stay at Wildside and we will be booking again for 2024.

Just returned from a 7 night stay in Wildside Holiday Lodges. Amazing weather hot tub was a must. We were a bit dubious about some reviews that had been put on. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay clean and comfortable and welcomed the tea/coffee/ milk on arrival after a very long journey. We stayed in the salmon lodge it is in need of some TLC but still comfortable. It’s spacious and our little dog loved it. Loved seeing the red squirrel , deer and pheasant. Very quiet place which is what we wanted. There is a pub/restaurant Hotel which is a must go to called the Whitebridge Hotel we visited it 4 times Amazing food. Will definitely be back to Wildside in the future.

Very disappointing lodge considering the cost. We paid £211/night. The hot tub was well maintained throughout the stay. That would be my only positive comment. The lodge was manky, smelly and badly in need of a refurb. At this price I would expect high standards of cleanliness at the very least. The bedroom floors and surfaces were thick with dust, the mirrors were all needing a good clean, the bathroom floor had foam oozing up through the lino. My 9 year old said she didn’t want to put her feet on the floor as it felt so dirty. The whole place smelt damp. Will not return or recommend!!!

We came here for my dad's 70th birthday, and it was amazing. Great for mobility issues. It's a lovely, quiet, clean, tranquil, beautiful place to relax and unwind. Great sentry and woodland setting with a river view. Marvellous when you're in the hot tub or just having a cuppa on the decking or in the living room. The wildlife that was there was amazing too. The lodge has everything you need. If something isn't right, the staff are quick to respond and make right. All information is in the welcome pack, including local walks, health and safety, things to do in Scotland, etc. We would definitely go back and recommend.
