Following recommendations, we spent 3 days at this hotel. A place to get away from the normal `rush` of life...no tvs, no telephones, and a PC only if you really have to contact the outside world ! Our room was beautifully situated, spotlessly clean, big wrap-around bath sheets, and although it was great to have a bath, there was definitely... more

I thought this place was amazing. Friendly, unobtrusive service and little touches such as jars of ground coffee in the rooms, a well-stocked honesty bar, complimentary fresh scones, not to mention the use of a telescope or sea-kayaks if the mood takes you, make this a really special little hotel. My only quibbles would be the lack of a proper... more

We stayed for 3 nights in September. As other reviewers have said the position of the hotel is unbeatable. The restaurant is a charming room serving excellent food with a good choice of wine. There are 2 lounges for relaxing where guests chat together. But above all it is th ambience in this hotel which is outstanding (and very hard... more

This hotel was highly recommended to me by a dear friend who has visited it many times, she absolutely loves the place. We were really looking forwarded to spending two nights of our honeymoon there. As soon as we arrived, we wanted to leave. When we arrived our room was not ready for us to check in to, so we... more

Arrived with high hopes which were dashed almost immediately - lunch in the adjoining pub, which is owned by the hotel, as a disaster (how can you destroy a ham sandwich?!) and had to be sent back. Not much of a welcome upon checking in but room was fine although way over-priced and therefore not good value. Spent a very... more

I stayed at Tigh an Eilean for one night as part of a touring holiday of Scotland. The roads in and out of Sheildaig are some of the most impressive in the area and were great fun to drive, with spectacular scenery. The hotel was lovely, with great service and great food. The "Honesty Bar" was a nice touch too.... more

Stayed one night here in May during a spell of wonderful weather. Loved Shieldaig and this hotel. Great location, especially watching the sun setting. Room was very pretty & well equipped, if a bit on the small side. We had a lovely dinner, great menu, interesting food. Breakfast too was very good. We found all the staff especially friendly. Would... more

I stayed here for 2 nights in the middle of a hillwalking holiday in the north of Scotland. As other reviewers have said, the location cannot be beaten - views to die for from the dining room, and the most star-filled sky you have ever seen. Some of the wildest walking in Scotland is a 10 minute drive away. Everyone... more

We have stayed at the Tigh an Eilean Hotel about 5 times now. It is a lovely small hotel in a fantastic location. The views from the restaurant and bedrooms are simply stunning. The food is really lovely, the bedrooms (whilst perhaps a little old fashioned) always make me feel relaxed after a long day walking in the beautiful local... more

If they gave stars for location and setting the Tigh an Eilean Hotel would have five. The situation is stunning; right on the water’s edge looking over Loch Shieldaig to Loch Torridon. The hotel is excellent too and I would recommend it to anyone – particularly those who prefer comfort and charm to style and luxury. The rooms are well... more
