I have stayed here on numerous occasions since 2004 and whilst the rooms are not top knotch they are clean and tidy and the ones in the original part of the hotel are quite idiosyncratic and charming. The Royal is in a prime location at the head of Tain High Street and some rooms have wonderful views over-looking the shops etc., so you can sit with a coffee and watch the world go by.
