I really enjoy my stay at the hillswick, which is on a regular basis. Very friendly staff, excellent food, 1st class service. Great features within the hotel and great views. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I could not rate this hotel and the owners higher. The hotel had such character and looked a little rough around the edges BUT we loved that! The top floors of the building itself was under construction and I’m hoping the new rooms are just as quaint as the ones we stayed in. There was a block attached to the... More

My office booked me a colleague here not realising it was a good distance from the airport and our meetings the next day. Appearance looks tatty from outside and the bar and dinning areas need some TLC but from the rooms being newly fitted out it looks like the owners are spending money on the place. Large spacious rooms with... More

What a fantastic Hotel, As most reviews say ,a bit of shock on first appearances, but really charming, we were shown to our room and then offered tea and homemade cakes which were delicous. The room was fantastic and the brand new bed so comfortable. Loads of building work taking place but it didn't effect us. We had dinner each... More

This was my 48th hotel stay on an extended around-the-world trip. I stayed two nights for GBP70 per night single rate in a double-bed room, including breakfast (& VAT). I had a walk-in rate on the day of my stay. What’s good: It’s a (partially) refurbished, charming old-style motel – one of very last shipping hotels remaining in the UK,... More

We spent 3 nights at St. Magnus and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was the best breakfast on our 10-day trip to Shetland. (I think the buffet mentioned in an earlier review were meant for the builders). Nice restaurant with great food. The place is rundown, but the staff and the place iitself makes up for it with great friendliness... More

i thought to write a best comment of this hotel but i am fully disappointed if i was treated as dis-honorably in restaurant at my last dinner in the hotel. i am sorry for that. i was sitting at a table which has good coverage to my mobile. the waiter who served in the restaurant asked me to sit another... After moving out of a grim hotel in Lerwick, I wanted somewhere more homely and comfortable. The St. Magnus Bay Hotel gave me that and more. The owners, Paul and Andrea, are very nice people who are very helpful and will spend time telling you about the fascinating history of this unique hotel and things to do and see in... More

We came here with family and friends for a meal. The hotel is quite imposing from the front as it is so large. Apparently, the hotel was shipped across the North Sea from Norway, in fact it reminded me of something off the film The Shipping News. It looked as if major renovations were being carried out, indeed parts of... More
