For those who have NEVER been to the Shetland Islands, or have no idea what to expect, this was our experience. We hired a car and drove basically bottom (Sumburgh) to top (Hermaness) and everything in between. There is a charge for the ferry to leave the "Mainland" but the balance of the ferry trips to all other northerly Islands... More

At first sight Pinewood is unprepossessing – tucked up behind the Aywick shop (a steel shed – but an Aladdin’s cave – don’t miss it). However I had two very comfortable nights there. My bedroom was small and at the back, but there are rooms with views, and there is a big residents’ sitting room with a huge TV, and... More

All mod cons in a homely environment and beautiful location! We were an unusual party with a large family group, attending brother's marriage to local girl, but Peter and Rachel were so accommodating and welcoming and made our visit very special. Rooms were warm, spacious, well equipped with Freeview and wi-fi and had lovely shower rooms with fluffy towels! Great... More

We stayed three very enjoyable nights in a comfy, spacious double room with a superb picture window view of Fetlar. Breakfasts were outstanding and the evening meals were very good value. Peter, Rachel and family made us feel 'at home'. The sitting room was relaxing with another fine view. Pinewood House is an ideal base for touring Yell and visiting... More

I booked one night on Yell to fill my unbooked night, more or less at random from (forgive the pun) yell.com and was not disappointed. I was staying alone but accommodated in a generous twin room with lovely en suite and free, fast wi-fi (very useful as I couldn't get a mobile signal on the whole island). There are not... More

Perfect B & B, with the added bonus of excellent quality evening meals. Welcoming hosts, pleasant rooms, warm home, lovely view, free wifi, extra lounge space for socialising, great location. What more could anyone want? Yell is great place but can be difficult for visitors as there are very few facilities. Having a base here makes all the difference, and... More

Sorry for the late posting of this review. We stayed here for 2 nights in October as a base for exploring Yell. We received a very warm welcome, the open fire was much appreciated especially given the weather at the time. The food was the best that we had during our stay on Shetland and made this B&B very good... More

We were made to feel more than welcome when we arrived. After a horrible journey (bad crossing) the ensuite shower was a godsend! The rooms were fully equipped with everything we would need. The shop next door was more than well stocked and given the relatively remote location reasonably priced! The chickens were brilliant! My boys tell everyone about them.... More

Not far from both the ferry from the mainland and the inter-island ferries to Unst and Fetlar with a well stocked store on the doorstep. Because pubs and restaurants are in short supply on Yell, the evening meal at Pinewood House was a great added bonus. It was also a good chance to relax and exchange info and a few... More

When the weather is hot and sunny, Pete and Rach will add to your holiday by serving up lovely starters, salads, main meals and desserts with the addition of local beverages if so desired! Then you fall into comfy beds, with the most gorgeous views of the beach, even at 1.30a.m. due to the light nights in summer! If you... More
