For those who have NEVER been to the Shetland Islands, or have no idea what to expect, this was our experience.
We hired a car and drove basically bottom (Sumburgh) to top (Hermaness) and everything in between. There is a charge for the ferry to leave the "Mainland" but the balance of the ferry trips to all other northerly Islands...
