We stayed one night as a stop-over point between Scotland and Ireland. The town itself didn't have much to do, so we spent almost an entire day in the pub. The pub smells like a museum, musty and gross, but the atmosphere was okay and the staff was very nice. (The clothes I wore in the pub DID have to... more

We were looking for a place in Troon with easy access to the train station and the ferry (we took rail from York England and needed a place to stay with access to the Troon - Larne ferry.) The Anchorage is about a 15 minute walk through the center of town and is directly across from the ferry terminal. The... more

New air conditioning has been installed and bar area and foyer of the hotel have been fitted with new Black Watch (An old Scottish regiment) pattern carpets,a new kitchen is also planned in the very near future. At last things in general should... more

I wish I had read the reviews on this hotel before booking, our stay was pretty much the same story. There was no-one on reception when we arrived and there was little interest in us from the staff members, who were cheeky and void of all customer service or people skills. As the bar was busy it took us a... more

I have traveled the world and stayed in many tough spots but this takes the cake. A recent golf trip to Scotland with 8 couples turned into a nightmare upon checking in at this Hotel/Inn. It is really a pub with some rooms. The smoke filtered upstairs into all of the rooms. There was no hot water in our section... more
