Been to the lake several times over the last few years and always went for the food - once was a hidden gem. However, much to my disappointment, the food just isn't the same as it was. I suspect they are now trying to trade on the previous good reputation and awards won last year and hope that no one... more

We found this hotel after reading a review of it in Metro and we decided to visit it as part of our honeymoon. We didn't regret it for a second. The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the Lake of Menteith and we had a room on the ground floor which looked out onto the lake. I can honestly... more

So many things in favour of this hotel - fab location, great restaurant & bar & wonderful staff. As has been said before, some of the rooms do need updating. For our first night we had a standard room overlooking the church & with partial lake view. This roon had been recently renovated so was in excellent condition. On the... more

Many thanks for your positive comments. Delighted you loved the Lake. Our staff read this too so this really keeps them motivated. Room 2 is now closed off for three weeks planned total refurb. Room 1 and rest of Lake views follow before next Spring. Unfortunately being privately owner means refurbishment does have to be phased in over a period.

We managed to get a late booking and this hotel and were really glad we did. We stayed in Room 8, which has had negative reviews previously, and we felt that the room was comfortable and well appointed. There was noise from the plumbing, but it did not effect our sleep too much - it could not be called a... more

Visit this hotel for its stunning location and lakeside views, its great food and friendly and efficient staff. It is let down by the accommodation which could generously be described as faded. With a price tag of £160 a night I expected luxury and this didn't deliver. I understand that some of the rooms have been renovated, make sure you... more

Many thanks for your kind comments. Staff too, read these pages and like to see customer feedback. All Lake views are scheduled for total refurb between now and next Spring. Being privately owned and of course in the current economy mean investment has to be spread over a period of time.

Had a lovely overnight break. We stayed in room 7 which was beautiful and lovely and light. Very quirkey with a slightly sloping floor. Dinner in Waterfront restaurant was very nice and in beautiful setting. more

We stayed at the Lake for 3 nights last week, during the glorious hot, sunny weather. This was our forth stay at the hotel in the last couple of years and every time we visit, we see more improvements and changes having been made. The staff are always friendly, helpful and eager to assist without being over the top. We... more

After reading some of the reviews on this hotel I felt the need to comment as follows - We recently stayed at the Lake Hotel for 1 night to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, a surprise, my other half had organised, we were not disappointed. The room was comfortable and looked like it had been recently decorated. Dinner in the lake... more

I only read the reviews after our visit and found lements i agreed with in several- both good and bad. The hotel is in a fabulous situation and the view from the restaurant and our lake side room was breathtaking. The room was not one of the ones which had been modernised- if this is a rolling programme in time... more

Thanks for the positive comments, staff are passionate about reading this too! Head Chef is on breakfast duty until normal service resumed! We are constantly working on renewing - this room is scheduled for a very major refit next spring (price will go up) but please do not be put off by that as it is very comfortable, very large,...

The setting for this hotel is beautiful and staff were friendly and helpful. Room 8 was decorated in a contemporary style. Evening meal in the bar was good. However, there was a banging noise in our room which carried on until 11pm and started again early morning, which sounded like faulty plumbing, combined with the roar from the air conditioning... more

May thanks for your comments, both here and during your stay. I'm sorry you did not think we took your comments seriously - we did. Second comment so room 8 was closed off. Plumbers have been stripping, lagging, cladding and fixing since and room back in service 3 July having been independantly tested. Again thanks for the feedback if we...
