I wonder who these people are that had such a bad stay there. Linda is a fantastic cook & the food is not to be missed. The place is certainly noisy at the weekend because it is so popular but just join in the fun & have great time & I ain't a youngster. Natalie Mingavie more

With the rather mixed reviews in TA i booked this with some trepidation. All worry left when we got there. There were 9 in our party and we had 6 rooms; everyone thought the place was excellent. This IS a small, old pub/hotel and the rooms are cramped; you can't expect luxury here. BUT it is clean, the staff were... more

On a visit to Islay just over a week ago my wife and I took two friends to the Bowmore Hotel for a meal. The food, the service and the entire experience was abominable. The worst ever hotel meal in 30 odd years of travelling. (Ironically, at the port of entry we commented with eager anticipation, on a sign that... more

I stayed here for four night as a base to tour the island. I found none of the problems others allege to have encountered and would stay here again. The food was good and the staff most helpful. Thanks Peter. more

We arrived ,my wife and our friend and I,we were shown to our rooms .Within 15 mins. we left. Our rooms had no useable drawer space and we were advised we could just work out of our cases. This is not a good advert for Islay or Scotland. The rest of our holiday was great after we obtained alternative accomodation... more

We booked this hotel as part of our trip around the West coast of Scotland. Having read the reviews we were a bit wary of what to expect, but were pleasently suprised when we arrived. The Bowmore may not be the classiest hotel we have stayed in but the warm welcome from the staff and the friendly locals in the... more

In our two weeks in Scotland, the Bowmore Hotel was the most disappointing -- and one of the more expensive -- accommodations we booked. Rates are high on Islay and there also weren't many open rooms when I booked, so Bowmore it was. We had Room 4, a double (which in this case meant separate beds), for GBP 90. The... more

Despite the friendliness of the staff and the quite reasonable food on offer this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The shabbiness of the rooms beggars belief. When I think of the lovely places I have stayed for half the price it makes really annoyed. As a Scot I am embarrassed to think of visitors from overseas... more

We booked here despite the bad reviews simply because we couldn't find anywhere else to stay. Big mistake! We booked three rooms for 5 people. All rooms have horrible bunk beds, very limited space and no view whatsoever. Just the opposite of the charming, friendly B&B experiences we had had before. One of the rooms was extremely noisy because it... more
