We had dinner at the Harbour Inn and were very, very disappointed. 1. The "sea shanty" decor is old, predictable and tired. More Captain Birdseye than QE2. 2. The staff were young and in need of supervision 3. The food was distinctly average - confusing dishes that don't sound right let alone taste right. 4. Finally, it's expensive - fortunately... more

Am moved to post this, having read the "fawlty towers" review. We have just had a fantastic weekend with friends , staying at the Inns Over By, which is the "annexe" of the Harbour Inn. Our accommodation was wonderful, beautiful rooms, bright, fresh style in keeping with the setting, great attention to detail re providing all the "little touches".We'd booked... more

My new husband and myself thought long and hard before writing this review and can only quote the following facts: Fortunately as I write this review we were at the time staying in the very best 5 star rating B&B on Islay which was simply fantastic and far better priced than the Harbour Inn. We cannot comment on accommodation at... more

My mother, step father and I booked into this hotel after walking past it. We stayed in the Inns-over- by which are the rooms over the road. These are tastefully decorated, clean and cosy with very comfortable beds. All the staff from the reception to the chamber maids were very friendly to us, they were warm and welcoming which made... more

My partner and I stayed 3 mights at the Harbour Inn and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was lovely - although the mattress was a little too soft for our preference. There were numerous thoughtful and tasteful touches to the room decor and it was very pleasant. The food was excellent although a slightly more extensive menu would have been... more

We agree wholeheartedly with the other reviews regarding the attitude of the proprietor and the woman whom we assume to be his wife. It was as if they didn't want to sully themselves by actually having to interact with us except of course when it came to presenting us with the bill! I did not notice until we got home... more

Spent a long weekend with hubby. Very friendly welcome. We had room 1 which has a great view of the bay, nicely decorated, exceptionally clean but perhaps a little small in size. One down side for me (and its only a small thing) was the pillows were a bit hard and for a hotel/inn of this grading should have been... more
