Not sure how much more I can say that hasn't already been said by everyone else except that we arrived on a windy wet night, were running late due to the ferry and the weather, and yet we were welcomed outside, Ronnie helped us with the bags, we were offered a glass of wine or whisky, the kids were offered... A fine B&B run by an awesome couple and their lovely dog who can fetch a scotch bottle by name! Our room on the first floor was reasonably spacious, quiet, good size bath, clean towels and linen and had a great view. Breakfasts cooked by the hosts were un-compromised and Ronnie was always helpful with maps and directions (not that... More

This is the most amazing Bed&Breakfast I have ever stayed at in my life: every detail is made with so much love, you can tell that the Browns are living for this place. + outstanding night having whisky and sharing stories together with Ronnie in front of the fire place + the breakfast is prepared with so much care, fresh... My wife and I recently stayed here on our honeymoon and the experience was fantastic. Our hosts were warm and friendly, the breakfast was great and the views were spectacular. We would highly recommend The Monachs (just like a lot of other people here on tripadvisor). Be sure to follow the directions on the web site and in your confirmation... More

I went whisky tasting on the Isle of Islay for my Dad's 70th as a suprise with my 2 brothers. We had a great time staying here. It was clean tidy comfortable, great breakfasts. Ronnie and Marie our hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much troble. Although nearer Port Charlotte than Port Ellen, where more distilleries are situated,... More

We stayed with Ronnie and Mari for three nights on our trip to Islay this summer. The B&B is on a little hill overlooking Loch Indaal with friendly sheep all around. The house is just lovely, very spacious and beautifully decorated. All colours nicely match and the rooms must be the biggest one can get in a B&B. Our room... More

This was a perfect place to stay for our first trip to Islay. Wonderful hosts. I'm not joking about first class - The Monachs is first class all round. Welcome, space, comfort, excellent food, warm welcome. A wonderful situation overlooking Loch Indaal. Quiet at night and a great base to explore. Loved it! More

We stayed at the Monachs for three nights at the end of June. The hosts, Ronnie and Marie are lovely -- gracious, delightful, warm and friendly. Breakfasts were delicious. Lots of variety and use of local ingredients Each morning we enjoyed conversation with our hosts and the other guests. Lots of discussions about where to go, what to do -... More

Wonderful stay in this little jewel on Islay. The hosts, Marie and Ronnie, have gone out of their way to bring the best of Scottish hospitality combined with a beautiful establishment. I would doubt if there is a better B and B anywhere else in the UK for the money. Definetly worth a visit. More

This was our first visit to Islay, so I thought it important to rely on tripadvisor for opinion and I was not disappointed. Ronnie and Mare are excellent hosts and they even found us on the island before we arrived at the house (That maybe because we were the only couple with Two Yellow labradors mind you). We were allocated... More
