We are hard pressed to recall staying at a more beautiful place. Ronnie and Marie are phenomenal hosts. Marie has a wonderful sense of humour which cracked us up time and again and Ronnie is one of the nicest people we have had the pleasure of meeting during our many travels. Marie is a great cook and her breakfasts were... more

We had the pleasure of staying with Ronnie and Marie Brown at the Monachs for three full days and simply did not want to leave. Guests are treated as family. There's nowhere on Islay one didn't meet someone who knew "The Monachs" and her host and hostess. Beautifully appointed rooms, convenient sparking clean ensuites, and Scottish tradition woven throughout the... more

Apart from the glorious weather and the superb beaches, our stay on Islay was made all the more memorable because of the comfort of The Monachs and the hospitality of the owners. The place is almost purpose-built to be exactly what you want in a B&B but it is the warmth of the welcome that really sets this place apart.... more

We stayed at the Monachs for five days as part of a group of 3 couples. Our trip was awesome. The setting and location could not be better for a calm and sociable holiday. The rooms are really very good, they are kept spotless and decorated in a tasteful and traditional manner. Breakfast is about as good as it is... more

My wife and I completed a month's tour of the Western Isles with a few days at the Monachs, and it provided a splendid climax to what had already been a memorable experience. We had enjoyed good accommodation and warm hospitality on Skye, Harris, North Uist, Barra, Tiree and Mull but the Monachs exceeded our expectations. It was not just... more

Mari's warm welcome and generous hospitality compliment Ronnie's humour, excellent story telling skills and willing advice on walks to take all made our visit so wonderful. Our bedroom, en suite and guests' lounge were superbly equipped and spotless, one cannot fault such a... more

MY stay with the Browns was like being in a world like no other. Words cannot adequately express the warmth of their hospitality. Although this was my first stay I felt like I had known them all my life. Every detail, for my pleasure and comfort ,was attended to. Mari's breakfasts were out of this world, and in such a... more
