The Oystercatcher was one of the hits of our stay at Islay. Lynne our host could not have been more helpful and accomodating to our group. The Oystercatcher looks out over the bay of Port Ellen, the rooms are spotless, cottagy and quaint . We found Port Ellen an ideal place to stay and the local pub just along the... more

The Oystercatcher is The Place in which you want to stay on the Islay visit! It is small but so cosy and nice place. And of course we felt so warmly welcomed there. Our room was very nice and clean, bathroom was very cute! I just fell in love with the superthick but still light blanket and soft sheets. We... more

From the moment we arrived Lynn made us welcome. The house was beautiful and our room very comfortable. Breakfasts were amazing - particularly the smoked salmon but everything was done to the same high standard. Lynn was very attentive and so pleasant, a genuinely lovely person, as were all the islanders we met. Port Ellen is well placed to explore... more

i went to islay for a week to enjoy the place and the distilleries, which i did. As a base to work from the oystercatcher is excellent a lovely clean room with a view of the bay. Lynn was the perfect host and made us feel more than welcome she made us feel at home, as for the breakfasts, can wholeheartedly... more

What a lovely stay here in Port Ellen with Lynn and her husband! Our room was nothing flash, but the feel of the whole place was beautiful. Very cosy, comfortable and homely! The location is great for exploring the distilleries on the island and also very close to the Port Ellen ferry terminal. The breakfast was probably one of the... more

We have been warmly welcomed by Lynn & Harry, that are delicious people. The rooms are incredibly quiet, with the view on the sea. The B&B is located close to Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin distileries (10 minutes by car) and next to the Hardview Inn (bar with approximately 200 different whiskies). For the breakfast, ask the Scotish salmon toasts with... more

The service We loved this little place. It's warm and welcoming with a great cosy feel. Harry and Lynn are the owners, and they were really friendly. The decor They have decorated the place really beautifully to feel homely. No expense has been spared either, as all the furniture and fittings seemed to be new, the towels were thick and... more

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Oystercatcher on a recent trip to Islay. Lynn and Harry were extremely friendly and helpful, and the hotel itself is darling! Our room was very clean, pretty and comfortable, though a bit on the small side (we generally expect that at most B&Bs, though). The breakfasts were delicious and HUGE. We... more

We arrived after a 5 hour trip across Scotland from Inverness, looking rather frazzeled from the Runrig Concert the night before. Lyn was the most helpful and pleasant host we encountered on this trip, our tent was hung out to dry, hot water in plentiful supply for a much needed shower, and close to the restaurant and pub. Will definitely... more
