I, we have never ever experienced such Insolent, incompetent staff! Service during dinner a nightmare. Lacked towels the second day and most of what we had were ripped, toilet seats broken, or just on the floor, very noisy staff - in front of the TV or listening to loud music during the night despite having been asked to turn them... more

We stayed at the White Hart one night, because we decided to extend our stay in Islay one night and the B&B where we were staying (the excellent Oystercatcher) was fully booked. The hotel itself was nice enough -- rather Victorian-looking. Our room was clean and fairly pretty, with a nice view of the bay. The staff seemed fine, though... more

Spent three nights here, overall very pleased. Islay is THE place to go for whisky tours and White Hart is a great place to stay. Staff and owner pleasant and very helpful. Room, large (by UK standards) clean and quiet. Nice pub,very nice breakfast and for diversification, a fantastic Indian restaurant near by. Don't miss it!! ( Doesn't have liquor... more

This is a huge old hotel that dominates downtown Port Ellen. It is convenient as you get off of the ferry but with further internet exploring a better place could be found. The hotel rooms and furniture are out of date, the linens needed to be replaced, but the view was top notch - you are right on the water.... more
