I stayed one night at the Caladh Inn in May 2009 and would never go back. First, to be fair, the good points: The location is great for the Ullapool ferry, the room was clean and the restaurant ("Eleven") served nice food. However........ Our first problem started in the evening. A trawl of Stornoway revealed that probably the best choice... more

After spending a couple of splendid nights at the Caberfeidh Hotel in Stornoway I was marooned on Lewis after car problems caused me to miss my ferry. I returned to the Caberfeidh, hoping to secure a further night's accommodation, only to find that they were fully booked. The helpful receptionist offered to call their sister hotel, The Caladh, to enquire... more

Room was small, very small. About a quarter of the size of the room in Berneray!! Clean. Breakfast okay, nothing special. Staff friendly, local and knowledgable. Inn was the quietest place we stayed at. However, we spent minimal time in it due to the size of the room. Expensive for what you get; half the price would have been reasonable. more

I attended a wedding at this hotel, and got a preferential rate of £80 per room B&B. Let me say first off, it's not worth £80. The Room: The rooms are like stepping back in time, very dated (But, they are clean), a colour portable TV, with no remote control, which wouldn't be out of place in a museum. And... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night and thank goodness it was only one night. We stayed in room 31 and I have stayed in better budget rooms in Butlins as a child. The bath would be ok if you are 4ft in height and the shower was attached to the bath taps via the old fashioned rubber hoses... more

Stayed at this hotel for two nights as part of a coach tour. We were allocated room "12" which is terrible. It is small and dingy with a small window facing the interior of the hotel. A large extractor fan is adjacent to the window and cannot be opened because of the noise from the fan. Avoid this room at... more

We got a "reduced" rate of £70 bed and breakfast for 2. The bedroom was very small and dated. The breakfast was OK but not outstanding. The restaurant has been modernised but has a canteen feel to it. There was painting work going on in the corridors and the bar was closed due to licensing problems. I would not stay... more

I appreciate all constructive comments regarding my hotel as long as they are fair. Personal opinions should never be dismissed, however, I object to one issue in this review which is that the bar was closed due to licensing problems - this is not and has never been the case. Our bar is open from 11am to 11pm 7 days...

Stay for one night on business at a cost of £59.00 B&B this hotel leaves a lot to be desired, at the third attempt I was given a room after complaining about the other two only to find it smelled of bleach !! that kept me awake most of the night. The decor was like something out of the 1950s and... more

We usually avoid two-star hotels, but this was a pleasant surprise. Sure, the room was in need of fresh decor, but it was very clean and had all the basics you expect in a hotel room. The TV did only have four channels, but that's more to do with the fact that it's in the Western Isles. Who goes to... more

I also stayed in this hotel on business. It has now been renamed The Caladh - so beware. I too found the reception area and other public areas fine but the guest areas were a disgrace. The extractor fan in the bathroom was caked in fluffy dust. It's a long time since I had to fix a rubber shower attachment... more
