On our arrival Peter, the owner, was welcoming and guided us around the house and explained that the upstairs bathrooms could run out of hot water but that the downstairs one would always have it.I appreciated his honesty and had no problems with the showers.Peter was also a good source of information for local knowledge and gave us some helpful tips... I booked a room via Hostelz.com, I don't know whether it was their fault or not but the room wasn't available. The yurt was offered instead but with no bathroom or heating we didn't think it was suitable accommodation. We stayed in some lovely hotels instead, but with such short notice we were lucky we could get them!

I was offered a caravan when I wanted to camp, which I foolishly agreed to and paid for up front. The caravan was a stinking green stained tourer with no working facilities. I was told I could use the facilities in the hostel, however these too were disgusting. The shower was filthy with broken tiles and mould everywhere, as to... More

Would not recommend. We stayed in a shared dorm. Foam matresses on the floor, dirty sheets (one of our party caught fleas), bathroom falling apart, insufficient water pressure for the shower, no lock for the room. Suspect this 'hostel' does not satisfy basic health & safety requirements. The owner says he runs a cycle company, but inspite of this there was... More

For the money I think it was good value. everyone is friendly and helpful, and Peter the owner was nice. The room had a lovely view. The house is quirky and fun, there are caravans in the garden and the house lived in but clean. I would definitely go back one of the best the kindest and fun places I... More

The Lodge was clean and tidy. The people who were running the Lodge were friendly and capable.Toilets were clean and tidy, the shower took a bit of getting used to but eventually one had it running effectively. I think that there should have been more information provided regards the facilities that are/were available in the Lodge during our stay. You can use... More

Having booked a double room as a restful end to several days touring western Scotland, we were so disappointed to be offered the choice of bunk beds or twin mattresses ON THE FLOOR of a very basic room. There was, admittedly, a lovely view out of the window to distract us from there not being a lock on the bedroom... More

I stayed at Glenaros lodge with eight school age students working on a musical production with Tobermory High School. Let me say from the start that the lady managing the lodge for the owner went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean, as was the self catering kitchen. However, The three bathrooms were in... More

Just had a splendid week at Glenaros with a bunch of countryside management students. Check out the new composting toilet and the flooring on the yurt, we did those while we were there. The staff were incredibly welcoming, helpful and warm and we had a lovely time. Lots of us asked about opportunities to visit again later this summer. Lovely... More
