The location is unarguably stunning and very, very peaceful which makes this a very special place. However, the message from the proprietors is mixed but their staff are excellent. The room was large and comfortable enough but one felt it had been furnished by a job lot from a house clearance and the bathroom was very basic but the shower... more
A very gentle house in a lovely peaceful setting for an overnight stay. Neil was terrific in offering us the 'best'(?) room , (Islay) at a last minute discount. Dinner was very good, my seafood platter at a supplement, was huge, but a little bit too much and the crab was shell crunchy. But waking up in a beautiful room... more
My husband and I stayed here in May 2008 for a short break without children. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and full of character, and the service was excellent - friendly, helpful and professional. We arrived late on the Friday night and they offered, unprompted, to make up a soup/sandwich snack for us on arrival. On the Saturday night... more
Delightful. We very much enjoyed our one night stay, especially as the weather was amazing. A very 'proper' hotel indeed and well worth the stay. For the first time in years we discovered that our bed and been 'turned down' whilst we were at dinner and cups and saucers cleaned and replaced - that is fantastic attention to detail. The... more
We stayed at the Greshornish Hotel with our 2 and 4 year old children at the end of May 2008 for one night. We found it in Alistair Sawday's "Special Places to Stay", which we had not used as reference book before. The hotel is in a wonderfully secluded position, in lovely gardens. Although quite a formal place, our children... more
We stayed at the Greshornish Hotel last year for our Wedding Anniversary in July. We had a magical four days. The staff were great, the food was out of this world and the service we received was second to none. I spent a long time in the bathroom-the view over Loch Greshornish from the 'wee' seat was wonderful! I could... more
We were in greshornish only one night as part of our honeymoon. While you´re getting to greshornish you realize that is a special place, you get there trough a private road and you see that around there´s no more property. One there the owners make feel like in your own house (they speak spanish), our room was perfect (islay) with... more
We are a couple with a 5 year old child who visited the week before Easter 2007. The hotel is a well kept georgian property in attractive surroundings with spectacular views of the sea run by a polite and proper, husband and wife team (ex Eton housemaster). Isolated location but well worth finding (TomTom took us straight to the door).... more
My wife and I stayed in Greshornish for four nights at the tail-end of our honeymoon. We found it the ideal place to finish off our holiday before returning to normal life and work again. The hotel itself is more like a family home into which you have been invited than a hotel. Neil in particular (but all the staff... more
