I spent 2 (or 3?) nights in the Portree Hostel last autumn, and absolutely loved this place! It's clean, friendly, colorful, the kitchen is huge with many things available for cooking, the tea and coffee are free, the living-room (where you can watch video tapes) is cosy...And I met a great person there (among the guests), so what can I... This hostel is great and is centrally located in Portree - right next to the bus station. The staff were very nice and helpful. There is a very large clean kitchen. This hostel had its own charm - each room was colourful decor, which was pretty neat. More

This hostel has everything a budget traveller looks for. The place is nicely decorated, it's vibrant colours make it friendly and welcoming. The well equipped kitchen, the rooms and bathrooms were all spotlessly clean when we stayed there. We slept in a 6 bed dorm and could fit in comfortably with all our bags. It's in the centre of Portree... More

Recently stayed in this hostel for one night on a trip to Skye and the Western Isles. The location is superb, right in the heart of Portree, the capital of Skye. Ideal for bus connections to, from and around the island. Not only a stones throw away from the bus stance, but all the local shops, pubs, restaurants, take-aways, cafes...and... More

Thank you CentralS for letting folk know we're not a bad place to stay. It will cheer the small staff-team to learn their efforts to maintain a clean environment with a friendly atmosphere are appreciated. The view over the bay to the mountains is set to get even better as we have plans to redesign the boiler-house, which should open... More

We've been looking for accomodation for hours and finally got to Portree. The hostel is located in the village centre, It's cheap, the reception guy is very friendly, it's very clean comparing to other hostels, has massive dining kitchen, a few showers and a few washing machines, internet access on demand. Overall 5 out of 5, would recmmend to anyone. More

Myself, Mum & Aunty, have been going here for the past 3-4years, when visiting Skye! We have no complaints with regards to the Hostel. Spaceous Kitchen area, with lots of room to cook and sit down. Breakfast is not free but it is provided @ at fee of £2.50 which goes into the honesty box, but if guests are not... More

Very good central location. Colorful building with 3 washrooms (toilet + shower), all clean. 2 couches and a tv at reception, large kitchen with lots of space for everyone to cook and sit. Staff was very friendly and helpful with our question about hikes. Wifi is a bit expensive so we didn't use it, but that was only 2 days.... More

You know these folk have respect for the mature backpacker and families....that's what I like about it...Yes it has it's quirks like no free wifi but still....It was my Ma's first time backpacking in her 60's and they couldn't do more for her. The kitchen was regularly thoroughly cleaned....and was lovely - very spacious with plenty of facilities. Other normal... More
