The hotel location was fantastic with an excellent location near the ocean. Finding the hotel is easy and there is a good amount of parking as well. It is also next to the Torabhaig Distillery which is one of the reasons this location was chosen. Breakfast was excellent with a great menu to choose from. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room I had was accessed from outside and it was wonderful and well laid out. Nice separate shower along with a deep bath tub for relaxing. The room was also extremely clean with a very comfortable bed. The only downside is that due to the door exiting outside, a green emergency exit light must be on at all times to follow fire regulations. I like really dark rooms and so this was a bit annoying. My understanding is that this is the only room like this. Again a great room!

Dear DoogsOZ Thank you so much for your glowing review of your stay with us at Toravaig House. I am so pleased to read how much you enjoyed the location of the hotel on a nice day we have the spacious decking for our guests to sit out on and enjoy. We do have ample parking at the hotel and as you noted we are a very short walk to Skyes newest distilery Torabhaig so there is no excuse not to sample their lovely whisky. Breakfast is definitely not to be missed each dish is freshly preparred by our chef and it hearty enough to keep you going long past lunchtime. The external bedroom that you stayed in was a lovely spacious new add on to the hotel this year and its lovely and spacious with lots of other luxury little touches. I am sorry if the emergency lighting caused you any reason not to have a peaceful nights sleep. We would absolutely love for you to return to Toravaig on your next planned trip to Scotland.

On main road down to Armadale, v friendly and efficient welcome from Sarah on front desk, lovely room with v comfy bed, an excellent cooked breakfast and all at a v reasonable price. We had our evening meal at a neighbouring hotel which was disappointing. We hadn’t realised that the Toravaig offered sharing boards in the evening which would have preferred. Many thanks, we had a lovely stay and hope to return.

Dear Exm357 Thank you so much for your wonderful review of your stay with us at Toravaig House. The hotel is ideally located for the Armadale to Mallaig ferry with less than 10 minutes drive for a swift way to head south. Sarah is just lovely and she warms to our guests just beautifully. We very much like to create that home from home experience at Toravaig so I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your breakfast and I am sorry to read that you were disappointed with your evening meal. The sharing boards are very popular with our guests at Toravaig so hopefully you will get to enjoy these on your next visit. We do hope that we see you again soon and can enjoy our Sonas Rewards by booking direct with us.

Excellent service from Silke and Becky - nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, modern and well-equipped with a view of the gardens. The food for breakfast was unsurpassed; a superb choice, each cooked to order and beautifully served. Portions were very generous and we particularly recommend the eggs!!! Parking and location were excellent. We will definitely go back!!

Dear Sally S Thank you so much for your top rated review of Toravaig House. The girls were on form again making sure that you were well and truly looked after. I am so pleased that you were happy with all aspects of your bedroom and it was spotlessly clean. Breakfast is absolutely not to be missed where everything is freshly cooked to order by our lovely chef who will give you a good portion to set you up for the entire day. Our eggs are from one of the best free range farms where welfare is high on the agenda for their hens. We shall most look forward to welcoming you back with open arms to enjoy another wonderful stay at Toravaig

I am so pleased that you enjoyed our beautiful location and appreciated our lovely comfortable and clean rooms. Breakfast at Toravaig sets you up for a full day of sight seeing and the opportunity to keep going round the island until its time to return for the evening. Arrived at reception while receptionist was dealing with other guests. Went looking for a rest room. Came back to the reception only to be meet by the rudest and least friendly receptionist I have ever met. Asked where rest room was and once again was the subject of this person's bad attitude. The other guests found this amusing while she stood there making funny face's. She waited outside the rest room with the incoming guests to tell me with her attitude to move my vehicle.

Dear wbain169 Thank you so much for your recent review. I am sorry to hear that you didnt feel most welcomed when you arrived to us. I appreciate that you commented that my colleague was busy with other guests when you did arrive so she may have not at that particular time been able to give you her full attention as she was attending to other guests needs. I appreciate that you may have been in a rush to find the rest room so perhaps patience was a little strained. I am sure that my colleague will give you a lovely welcome when you return to the hotel to drop more guests off that are staying with us at a future date. Thank you for your comments.

We had a wonderful stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Sarah and Lisa gave us helpful advice on things to see and do. The room was very comfortable and clean , we had a lovely view too ( Room 3) The breakfast was substantial . No dinner here but they do have a free shuttle to a near by hotel where we had a lovely meal. The other evenings we ate out at our own choosing .

The staff at the Toravaig House were friendly, polite, and professional. The rest was disappointing. Our "deluxe sea view" room was small and cramped with more of a "tree view" through the one window. If you are fairly tall, you could see that there is water behind the trees, but it was not as pictured on the website. The room is barely larger than the bed and had no desk area to review plans, catch up in journals, or check email. We had to put one suitcase in the closet just so we could open both of them. If this had been described as a "standard" room and cost half the price, it is what I would have expected. For the value, go elsewhere.

Dear johnrossva Thank you so much for your review of your recent stay. I am so pleased to read that our staff shone like the stars that they are and I am sorry to be reading your further comments. I have had a check of your booking with us, this was made through our website and what you reserved was a Standard Sea View bedroom. We do have a deluxe bedroom option but they do not have a Sea View. All of our bedrooms are different in style, size and decor. The bedroom that you were allocated comes with a Super king sized bed (US King) the bedroom has a table and 2 chairs and also a fixed unit where there is additonal further space to utilise as you wish. I am terribly sorry if you feel that there was any confusion in your bedroom category but I can assure you it was a Standard Sea View that you reserved with us. We would love for you to return to us in the future or perhaps one of our other hotels. Thank you so much for your comments and we wish you well on your future travels.

We booked two standard rooms at a peak summer rate of £398 each per night! However we were sneakily assigned one cozy double (which is a cheaper room) without being told about the downgrade. When my daughter and her husband went to the room, it was tiny and cramped. The toilet was soiled and unflushed, and there were used toiletries there. In our room too there were partly used bottles of toiletries. It appears that this property does not replace the small bottles of toiletries with new ones when a guest checks out. The property is locked up at 11 pm, and we were not informed about this beforehand. No key is provided to the front door. There is a nice seating area outdoors and we wished to sit there chatting until late, catching up, as it was a lovely evening but the receptionist made it very uncomfortable for us saying that she could not go home until we were in our bedrooms. We were also told that the lounge lights would be turned off when she left, so we couldn't sit there either. The location isn't ideal. The property is close to the ferry terminal, and the area is scenic, but many of the other attractions in the Isle of Skye are quite far away. I wrote to the property about the downgrade and our other experiences but they have not bothered to reply. Breakfast is good. The decor is tasteful, and the owners have made an effort, but their staff are letting them down.

Dear AKP999 Thank you so much for your recent review. I am so sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. I have looked into your reservations and I can see that you were allocated 2 standard bedrooms, one as a twin bedroom for your parents and the other bedroom for yourselves. The hotel is a period feature building so all of our bedrooms are unique in size and decor. If for any reason we had to change your bedroom category we would of absolutely of notified you of this prior to arrival or at least on the check in process. If there was any issue with cleaning we were cetainly not aware of this as we would have been more than happy for our housekeeper to change anything that you were not happy with. On check in all of our guests are notified of when we close the front door so if any of our guests shall be returning late or arriving late an alternative is always put in place for this to happen. Our evenings we are now dark at around 10pm so if we did have anyone sitting outside we would assit them to the lounge to finish off their evening. The lounge area is where our liquor is kept and as a licensed premises it is our responsibility to ensure the secutity of our alcohol. Its disapointing that you didnt enjoy the hotel location or the beautiful surroundings of the south of the Island where you could enjoy majestic native woodlands, stunning sea scapes along with the many beautiful walks, one of which you can even do from the front door of the hotel. Any concerns raised by our guests are checked meticulously so as we return any correspondance as correct as we can. I am very pleased to hear that you really enjoyed your breakfast on your morning of departure and that you found our decor to be tasteful but one thing I find sore to accept is your comment about our staff as they are praised on countless occasions by so mahy of our guests. Thank you so much for your review and we wish you well on your future travels.
