We spent four nights at The Gables and had an excellent stay! The Gables is very convenient to both Edinburgh and Glasgow (by train or car), with a good car park. The rooms and ensuite baths are very large. Top quality linens and furnishings. The proprietors Mary and Donald are true to Scottish hospitality, know the area very well and make EXCELLENT hosts. They printed out some directions for us to nearby attractions and made us feel quite welcome. The Gables' rates are very reasonable, and we thought right to stay for several days. We also took two days for some day trips out. The breakfasts are excellent. The hosts were hospitable and we would certainly stay again and urge others to stay.
