Second visit to the Taychreggan - July 2009 (we had previously had a lovely stay in Feb 08 when only part of the hotel was open due to the refurbishment). We were staying nearby and came here for dinner. Setting is truly spectacular, but the food was very disappointing. The menu sounded good but the food was bland and the fish overcooked. Fiona, the manageress, organized an excellent seafood platter for our family and friends. It was beautifully simple with lovely fresh fish and accompaniments. We had a great evening in the well stocked bar, relaxed and informal... just what we wanted. more

The Taychreggan sits beautifully by Loch Awe and is a gorgeous building with nice rooms. We booked the cheapest room (Lui with car park view - not a big car park, so you see lots of beautiful greenery) - it was very small and had a small bathroom; with very little water pressure in the shower and no steady temperature.... more

We didn't stay at the Taychreggan Hotel, but we ate there while staying up the road at a B&B. The view of Loch Awe during dinner was spectacular. The food was rather overpriced. Granted we had 2 half bottles of wine and another glass or so, but $200 for dinner for 2 should involve better food. A piece of fish... more

We had an absolutely stunning room with a view across the loch that was just perfect to wake up to. We stayed for one night on our way up to the isles. The hotel lived up to its blurb: a very romantic, quiet setting on the side of Loch Awe. Excellent food, very good service and good value for money. We were upgraded on arrival to a room with a loch view (thank you!). No complaints at all. more
