We booked in for a long weekend to chill out and read the reports about this hotel, most of which were very positive and upbeat about the standard. The location is stunning and the food excellent, however, outwith the dining room there is not the attention to detail that you would expect from an establishment that charges the rate they... more

We booked a 3 night stay in the Boatshed. The drive is long and well, not great but its worth it! We were ready to dislike the place after the 10mile single track road, meeting a bus and a few cars including one which made me reverse quarter mile back - (surely more passing places possible) but we loved it... more

We stayed 3 nights mid-week in the last week of May to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We wanted a memorable location with rooms/food to match and were not disappointed. But the 10 mile drive along single track roads from Tainult (nearest main road) takes a full half hour, so the location is quite remote - which we liked, but... more

What can I say? I had my reservations about this place, much as though it was no 1 on trip advisor. I am a city girl through and through and the thought of all the chintz terrified me. I like clean lines, beige/taupe and no clutter. but I read a quite recent review on trip advisor which basically said to... more

We have stayed here three times now - most recently to get married, when we booked the entire hotel for friends and family. This is one of those places that you either get, or you don't - looking at other reviews, most people love it, but a few completely miss the point. For us, it's the tops - this place... more

As soon as we entered the driveway we got a sense for the character ahead... I had been recommended this hotel but nothing prepared me for how amazingly haunting, romantic and beautiful it was going to be.. First impressions were off this old world house/castle exterior, then followed by the friendly & warm receptionist on check-in, our room was beautiful,... more

We really wanted to like this place more, but it didn't live up to expectations (which were probably too high!). There is no question that it is a wonderful place, with a remote, tranquil location and wonderful food. I definitely recommend it, if you want to spend this much. However, having stayed at other similar places on our trip the... more

Stayed here for one night in July 2008, and what a wonderful experience. Friendly staff throughout our stay, with a lovely room - all rooms are decorated in a different way, but all have a character that will make the experience memorable. Both dinner and breakfast were of a very high standard, and the view from the dining room at... more

My wife and I were there for 3 nights in July. We stayed in the Ichrachan room. We believe it to be superior to other rooms. Although many of the rooms have a great lake view we felt It has the best lake view. The common areas are very comfortable, very circa 1850. Tall, grand rooms with the sort of... more

By pure chance and coincidence we came across this magical place while driving around in the area looking for a place to stay and we must say that it certainly was the highlight of our trip. The very friendly manager gave us a top of the range lake view room at the cheapest room rate and also arranged for a... more
