We stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. Beautiful house and our room was lovely. Nice toiletries, tea (incl. tea pot!), comfortable bed etc. Some really great touches, e.g. fresh flowers in the room, homebaked shortbread (best I've ever tasted). Breakfast was superb with a choice of full Scottish, eggs, fantastic porridge or locally smoked kippers (yum!).... more

After 2,5 hours drive from Edinburgh on a rainy Sunday we arrived at Roineabhal B&B and felt at home from the first moment on. The country house offers a feeling of well-being and comfort. Roger and Maria seem to be well-known relatives of the kind one always loves to visit. We guess, they send McDuff (an 18 months old Italian... more

We were welcomed with tea and home cooked fruit cake was delicious.Made to feel very welcome by all, hosts Maria and Roger, Magda who worked for them and MacDuff and Coldin their lovely pets. Our room was spotless, with the sound of the burn to send you to sleep in the comfy bed. Our stay at Roineabhal was a present, and designed to provide accomodation while we went to the Loch Visions photography Course nearby. As beginners we were apprehensive, and so after a long wet drive from Edinburgh, we were delighted to be given a warm and friendly welcome to Maria and Roger's relaxed family home. The decor, both antique and contemporary, combined with personalities... more

We found this treasure while travelling round Argyll. Such a welcoming house, with the lovely aroma of home-made bread when we arrived - (tasted as good as it smelled!). It's the perfect place for relaxing in front of a log fire with a glass of whisky after a splendid dinner. We'll be back in the summer to do the many... more

This was our third visit to Roineabhal in as many years and it is still absolutely wonderful! Our daily lives are incredibly hectic but a couple of days in Scotland in the care of Maria & Roger is the perfect tonic. The scenery is spectacular and the house is absolutely beautiful, we always receive a very warm welcome, especially from... more

The dog mentioned in the other reviews wasn't just young, he was not controlled by the owners. The hosts were outwardly friendly, but just did not seem to have the guests first in mind. The common room furniture should have been replaced years ago, the optional dinner was only offered the one night the hosts had personal friends over, and... more

I have just returned to Sweden from a trip to Scotland, where I spent 4 days at Roineabhal Country House. It´s not far from Oban on the westcoast; it took me 2½ - 3 hours to drive from Edinburgh. It`s a beautiful house in beautiful surroundings. My hosts Maria and Roger and their staff of one are the nicest people,... more

Lovely accommodation with excellent food. In a nice setting with its own burn at the bottom of the garden. Stayed two nights in September 2008 whilst we explored Loch Awe and Oban. Maria and Roger were excellent hosts and were able to provide valuable local information. You must try the award-winning porridge for breakfast. more

Reply from the pescy dog. My Name is MacDuff and I am actually a prince among dogs. My Dad won Crufts. I am only 11 months old and in human years that make me only about six. I apologise for my behaviour but I am afraid I forget sometimes and jump up and stick my nose where it is not...

Beautiful location, great welcome, very comfortable room, outstanding food. If our home was really comfortable, wonderfully decorated and furnished, this would be a home from home. One of the newspaper reviews of this place said "this is a 4* Hotel masquerading as a B&B" - from our experience we'd say that's just about right. We're going back. more
