I visited the restaurant when I was walking the Rob Roy Way. I had the nice surprise to see that Mhor from Callander had taken over the place. That means excellent food, tasteful decor and warm welcome. The cake stand was very inviting. They're still need to finish to refurbish the whole place with the toilets not being up to scratch.... We stayed here during their opening weekend, an absolutely steal at £60 a night room only. Rooms done out in white and very minimalist but style wise it really works. Room was dog friendly and ensuite. Little extra charge for fur babes who thoroughly enjoyed being pub dogs for the weekend. Lots of pats and a special plate of sausages... More

What a change in place, the hotel is under new ownership, we believe it is the same people that have a lovely hotel further down Loch Voil !!!!! The sign outside says Mhor eat drink and sleep, thats a clue. Rob Roy bar has gone which is no big loss, the old lounge/ reception which was tired and mangy looking, is... More

We stayed at the newly opened mhor 84 last night on the way up to oban and would highly recommend it. Don't be put off by the old reviews on trip advisor - the hotel is under new ownership now and has been totally revamped. The location is a really convenient stop off point and from the moment we were... More

The old Kingshouse Hotel has sadly been going badly downhill for some years. The good news however is that it is no longer the Kingshouse, but Mhor 84 (from being on the A84), having been taken over by the Mhor brand that also runs the Monachyle Mhor hotel, Mhor Tea tearoom (now moved from Balquhidder itself to the Mhor 84... Don't even bother! The customer service is appalling and the owners Kenny and co. are manipulative and rude! Horrible experience and terrible taste in your mouth experience when it could have been so awesome to celebrate the ending of what was a great weekend in Scotland. Good news, i see, is that the owners are running away from their shared... More

We were a large group of people that visited the Kingshouse Hotel for lunch. The Managers were very unfriendly, unhelpful and unprofessional. The whole experience was terrible, dreadful and very upsetting. Thankfully this didn't ruin my birthday weekend. None of us will be revisiting the Kingshouse Hotel and I shake my head in disbelief that these people are running the... More

On arrival our first impressions of the place was not good...It was very dated looking & grotty. There were dogs running freely around the place even sitting at the table begging for food which is just not right by any means. We went to the bar for drinks & our first encounter with Kenny was ok..we exchanged a bit of... More

Just on way home from a 2 night stay at the Kings House Hotel Balquhidder. Lovely clean comfortable room, had a better sleep than at home actually! The building has great character and the Rob Roy Bar serves a good hearty meal for good value. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, more than willing to help us decide where... More

We went to the Kingshouse on Wednesday for a meal with family visiting from Yorkshire. Our meal was fantastis and one of the best I have had here. Kenny and Nicola were their usual fantastic selves. No complaints - they even put the fire on for me when I called to see if they were still serving food. What more... More
