The staff were very helpful and the large ground floor room was well equipped. Dodgy shower was reported at the time. I ate in the bistro as I was travelling alone, but the food was mediocre. Melba toast to accompany the pâté (which was bought in) was the type you buy in a packet!! And the batter on the fish... More

This hotel has a sense of history about it and provides luxurious accommodation and value for money. The food, served in the two restaurants uses a lot of local produce and is expertly prepared (Don't miss the porridge !) It is conveniently located for visiting attractions in the Scottish Borders, and has high standards of behaviour. - I loved the... More

We didn't stay at the hotel, just went along for some afternoon tea but it was lovely! Its such good value for the amount of food that you get and its all pretty tasty. Scones were a little bit drier than I would normally like, but still edible and the other cakes / biscuits more than make up for that.... More

This hotel oozes old fashioned charm. Some of the furniture may look a little tired and all the floors squeak but that is part of this grand old building, set in well kept grounds. The river Tweed is on your doorstep and if you like walking, there is no end to good paths

Good hotel for an overnight stay next door to the abbey which is must visit if you are staying here. A large hotel perhaps lacking the intimacy of the smaller hotels, however very clean and comfortable. Set on wonderful grounds and with many interesting walks close by from 15 min to 4 hours. We walked to the suspension bridge Statue... More

Went for an overnight stay as a treat for our "special anniversary". The hotel is in a wonderful setting overlooking the Abbey and the River Tweed. On arrival the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. As I am in a wheelchair we had a special adapted room on the ground floor which accommodated my needs. In the evening, canapés were... More

Went for a long weekend with two small kids. It was good value for money, as per hotel policy under 5's stays free if you book premium room. Clean swimming pool, lots of things to do outdoors, I was also pleasantly suprised by reasonably priced restaurant menu - although there wasn't a lot of choices, all the food was freshly... More

Quite frankly an embarrassment to the Scottish hotel sector. Arrived at hotel - short walk to room on dirty carpet (toilet paper and food on floor). Got to room which had wall paper which was falling off the wall in bedroom and ensuite. The wall paper in several areas had been stuck back using celotape. There was an old arm... More

This is a lovely warm and friendly family orientated Hotel. My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing break. This is our second visit and as always the staff were excellent. The room was great value for money with stunning views over the grounds and River Tweed. Our evening meal was 1st class as were the waiting staff. There was... More
