Stayed in this hotel during a return journey from the highlands. Downsides were limited parking, tired decor and noisy (but seemingly harmless) locals outside on a Saturday night. staff exceptionally friendly and the food and bar were great. Even the noisy locals were actually very friendly in the bar, even to a soft southerner like me! with a refurb it... More

Had booked here to stay for Wickerman with my wife and teenage daughters - looks OK from outside but reception area looks pretty run down and seemed to be pub entrance as well. Corridors up to rooms were a bit tatty but not too bad. Rooms really disappointing - peeling wallpaper, cracked lino in bathroom, black grouting around bath tiles... More

I sometimes use hotels in Scotland for business and I need an inexpensive but comfortable place to stay. The Pheasant Hotel in Dalbeattie is just such a place. No frills, basic accomodation, friendly, good bar downstairs and an excellent restaurant. I would return if in the area.

A one-night stay with colleagues. No parking is available. After checking in I was taken to my room (room 2). Faded decor. The heating was off (in November!). There were biscuit crumbs on the chair, although otherwise the room was fairly clean. Had a couple of good pints before going to the excellent Italian restaurant next door for dinner. It... More

Great welcome, (some) great showers, good mattresses, excellent food and drink - what more could a bunch of alcoholic middle aged (40 - 60) mountain bikers want? The hotel is definitely dated but makes no pretext to be anything other than warm, inviting, friendly, helpful and fair. We got a cracking deal, including dinner. The bar was well stocked, The... After searching for a nice hotel near Kippford, this hotel came up as the closest we were going to get. After reading their website and arriving at the hotel, we were in for a shock. Not quite what we expected, especially being on the main road, and on a corner. There wasn't any where other than the main road to... More
