Stayed in a mostly sunny week late June 09 and had a great time. Cabin 43 was sound...surprisingly hot at night but child friendly balcony with a great view over the loch to enjoy as the long light evenings linger. Bedrooms and lounge a fair size, kitchen small, everything tidy and pretty well equipped -including helpful stuff left for use... more

We stayed at Barend over the Christmas period - arriving on Christmas Eve to Chalet No. 32, complete with Christmas tree and two selection boxes for the children and a bottle of Cava for us - a lovely welcome and great first impression of the place. The chalet was warm and cosy and extremely well equipped and clean. We stayed... more

Stayed at Barend with my wife, 18 month old daughter and 2 friends for a long weekend. The cabins are excellent and extremely spacious. The gardens and the general keep of the cabins are of high standard. However, the bar area is scruffy and needs a complete revamp. As too does the play are. 2 dirty swings isnt a play... more

Barend was not what I expected to say the least. First impression of chalet 38 was that the interior was tired and worn but clean enough, although it did have a strange smell that would not disapear even with all the windows open for 5 days. Outside to the front there were workmen tarmacing the road, metres from the chalets... more

Management response from

Barend is for peace and quiet and you cannot please everyone. We do not advertise as an activity resort. Sorry about the tarmacing, but it has to be done sometime for maintenance. However, I have to respond to the comment about the smell. The smell is wood - they are log cabins. They are made of wood, which being a...

I've just returned from a week at Barend with my husband, 2 kids and parents .. not forgetting the dog. It is a beautiful location overlooking a loch and only a short walk from the beach. The chalet was superbly equipped - they had thought of everything. We all enjoyed the pool, and the bar and restaurant were great. The... more

The beds were very comfortable and the views from the lodge magnificent. Having said that, when we arrived the carpets needed hoovering twice before we could allow the baby to crawl on them because of the dog hairs left by the previous residents. The living areas are generous in size but the kitchen is tiny - not adequate for up... more

We stayed at Barend Holiday Village in September 2005 and had a fantastic time. We go to Scotland every year and had called here one time to go for something to eat in the bar. Whilst in there we noticed that dogs were allowed in the bar and thats what made us decide to book it the following year. Our... more
