We stayed here as part of our honeymoon and I must admit it was totally shocking. The prices charged are totally outlandish for what is massively out of date decor, cold rooms with mould in the bath room. It is clear that absolutely no money has been spent on the interior decor. And the dining room is ok if you... More

Our second visit... Food as ever quite sensational...impeccable service...immaculate rooms with fabulous sea views...perfect place for peace and tranquility. Still inadequate Wi Fi ...which needs to be sorted ... This aside full marks.

Knockinaam Lodge is situated as far west in the south of Scotland as it is possible to go without falling into the sea. You reach it by driving down a very bumpy, narrow lane which seems to be leading nowhere until you turn a corner and there,in front of you, is this splendid house with lawns reaching out to the... From the moment you arrive at this location, you know that you have chanced upon a special hotel. Located on the south-west coast of Scotland, just across the water from Ireland, this beautiful hotel is ideally situated to provide an atmosphere of peace and seclusion. The staff are friendly and courteous without being intrusive. The surrounding countryside is ideal for... More

What an excellent hotel this is. Every aspect is a treat: the location , the hotel itself inside and out is beautifully maintained, the food is wonderful and the staff endlessly helpful, polite and friendly. One really couldnt ask for more! Having stayed in five star hotels throughout the world we found this to be up there with the best... More

We returned to Knockinaam for our third and now annual visit (3 nights) and as expected found everything entitely to our satisfaction. Some warmth in the spring sunshine was all that was missing! The food and service is simply superb and we cannot rate this hotel highly enough. Many thanks to all the staff who make our stay so special.... More

Staff pleasant, beautiful room, house and setting, but the food was disappointingly overrated. My partner is vegetarian and for the £58 received a cous cous stuffed pepper as a main. Had rather hoped that a michelin starred restaurant could offer something more interesting for the price. Or lower the price. Quite used to this happening so had called in advance... More

If you like old cold houses steeped in history, efficient service without chat, dining rooms silent but for the clink of cutlery on china, then this is the place for you. I found it devoid of personality, but heavy on traditional catering and service. Food in the restaurant, both dinner and breakfast, is superb. Central heating did not raise the... More

We stayed for two nights at Knockinaam Lodge, and had the most wonderful time. Our room - The Churchill, was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the big bathroom had a walk-in shower as well as the original free-standing bath complete with the original copper taps and piping. The staff were all friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was excellent: world-class.... More

We usually goto Airds in port Appin, but thought lets try another. It doesn't disappoint, very welcoming staff, fabulous food and huge wine repatoire. One small thing that does not happen at Airds, in the bar served stale crisps and olives. Perhaps a bit more effort with this.
