Had stayed here before and really enjoyed the place as there had been a real buzz around it. It is in a superb location and the sea view rooms have a great outlook. As it's a hotel I assumed there would be some food to be had at about quarter past eight in teh evening but when we arrived we... more

Although we did not stay at this hotel, we went in for lunch. The food was lovely and the decoration was really great, nice and clean and comfortable. The people were really so friendly and very helpful. We both enjoyed the lunch so much I can highly recommend the lamb shank, lots of meat and relly tender. Hubby had the... more

If you want to get away from it all Portpatrick must be one of the best places to visit. The Waterfront Hotel provides excellent accomodation with good food, comfortable surroundings & very friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Our family of five was accomodated in the new cottage annex next door as the hotel was fully booked. We... more

Because it was January, it was a bit like staying with friends. We drove into Portpatrick on a whim, chose this hotel at random, and it was as though the staff had been twiddling their thumbs waiting for us to arrive, then when we did, they swung into action. Lunch, room, dinner, breakfast were ALL superb. The staff all made... more

We booked three rooms in September for an October stay for dinner, bed and breakfast. Imagine our surprise when we arrived to read the notice on the door saying the restaurant was closed for refurbishment so no evening meals! Considering we had booked dinner, bed and breakfast we were a little put out. The lady (owner?) simply said she thought... more

My husband and I were looking for a change from our usual areas for a weekend break and what a lovely find the Waterfront was. I almost booked the Crown and was so glad to get the Waterfront next door. It is more like a guesthouse than hotel ,its cosy friendly and has a great outlook. We booked a small... more

The Waterfront Hotel, has clean rooms, standard rooms, compact and tiny, but very, very clean. Remember to ask for a front door key if you are out for the night, otherwise you may find yourself locked out. Room 7 has the water supply pipes running through a pipe chase at the room door and it is VERY noisy so not... more

Lovely welcome by Raphael, he carried my bag up to the room and gave us all info needed. Breakfast was spoiled by disgusting sausages, I was informed that it was a fresh box and that it was my taste at fault by the very hoity Ann, no apology. Locals assured us that the chef had a great reputation but after... more

We have stayed once at the hotel but have dined there many times. The welcome is always warm and genuine and the room that we had was comfy and cosy and superbly furnished. The food in the restaurant was superb on all of the twenty or so occasions that we have dined there and the wine selection was carefully and... more

I have never seen such small rooms in my life. The bathroom was also incredibly small, we wondered how we could manage so one of us had to lay in the bed while the other showered. In addition the hotel was about £90/$200 per night which in my view was a complete rip off for this quality level of room... more
