There is really nothing to find fault with at Rickwood House. Maggie and Fred's welcome is warm. The public and bedrooms are very clean and well decorated, and the breakfast, which you can choose the night before, is well presented. There is always a breakfast extra, for example hash browns, that is not on the menu. Rickwood House can also... more

This small family run hotel is all that you could ask for a business or leisure stay in Portpatrick. Maggie and Fred the owners go out of their way to ensure your stay is perfect. The rooms are spotless, bright and airy and the stunning views over Portpatrick and across the North Channel are unbeatable. Maggies food is superb and... more

I give Fred and Maggie, the owners of Rickwood House, full marks for their welcome, accommodation, hospitality and especially the quality of the cooking. Being a small hotel, it lacks items such as a swimming pool and a fitness centre, but for us, being small is a major plus. There is no "restaurant" as such, but Maggie provides set evening... more

A lovely guest house in a beautiful part of Scotland. It is some time since we stayed in Scotland, and apart from excellent breakfasts, we have in the past been disappointed with the standard of evening meals. I am pleased to report that the Rickwood served us excellent meals during our stay, only let down by the wine. The room... more

From the moment we arrived at Rickwood, owner Maggie`s welcome assured us that our stay would be a good one. And it was! Our room - the Factor`s Suite was spacious, warm , comfortable and very nicely decorated - oh and it had great views! Breakfast was delicious - the traditional porrige was first class and there were various different... more

We have stayed at the Rickwood many times but having just returned from a recent visit felt the need to tell other people of this wonderful hotel. Each year the room we have has offered great comfort at a reasonable price. We enjoyed delicious food in a welcoming friendly environment. Fred and Maggie make such an effort to ensure your... more

We stayed here for one night in May. It's a fantastic little B&B, short walk up the hill from the harbour, clean & tasteful rooms and a breakfast to die for (the homemade porridge is brilliant!!) smashing, i'd thoroughly recommend it. more

We have just returned from a lovely weekend in Portpatrick. We had stayed in Portpatrick before but never at the Rickwood. We saw that the owners, Maggie and Fred had won the 2008 Guest House Warm Scottish Welcome award from HotelReview Scotland so thought we would give it a try. We're so glad we did and plan to return whenever... more

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in Sept. 2007. Our room was medium-sized, quiet, and had a lovely view of the sea. We found the atmosphere friendly and peaceful. The owners were gracious and helpful. We would recommend this Bed and Breakfast and also Portpatrick itself which is a nice small village with very good restaurants, especially Campbells... more

We have stayed and dined in many hotels in Scotland including Inverlochy castle once voted the best in the UK - it still may be and we can honestly say that the Rickwood is up there with the best. Maggie and Fred would bend over backwards to make your stay the most enjoyable. The place is pristine ,absolutely spotless, the rooms are... more
