I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years and have an affection for both it and Dolgellau itself. Unfortunately, it appears to be suffering from some behind-the-scenes management convulsions at present. This may help to explain why (a) no record was found on arrival of my online booking, (b) cooked breakfast was unavailable one morning (no apology... More

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and we are sorry to hear that there were a number of problems with your latest stay. Unfortunately, during that time we had some gas valves which failed and needed to be replaced this was done as soon as possible. However, this did result in us being unable... More

Shabby rooms, uncomfortable beds. We knew when we booked that our bathroom would be separate but were disapointed to discover there was quite a walk to find it. We stayed in three different places in Wales over three nights all priced identically. This was by far the most “budget” of the three and I think very overpriced for what you... More

Dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and we are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay. We are aware that some of the rooms are dated and some of the mattresses are in need of being replaced. The hotel has recently changed hands and after several years of under investment by the... I used The Royal Ship Hotel on 19th May 2013 and, overall it was an OK experience. It cost £90.00 for the night which included full English breakfast that had been per-booked. We would have like to sample the evening meal, but because we had not per-booked it, we could not be served. I would have expected the staff to... More

had a lunch here yesterday with the family and very nice it was too, everything piping hot and apart from the service being a tiny bit slow i would recommend the food here to anyone the cheese pate was a particular favourite, very unusual.

Overall it was an ok experiance, but the rooms need some cleaning, we stayed in a family room....there was no proper duvet but a bed cover which did not look clean at all...towels and bedsheets were clean ....it should be ok if they just clean the carpets and get proper duvets!

Dear Sir Thank you for your review. We appreciate that after several years of under investment by the previous tenants some of our rooms are in need of work. But I can assure you that all our rooms are cleaned thoroughly before each guest arrives. Some of our rooms do still have traditional sheets, which many people prefer to duvets... More

I visited Dolgellau on a business trip and although I didn't stay in The Royal Ship Hotel so I can't comment on the rooms etc.. I did decide to have my evening meal here. Due to my vehicle breaking down and being brought to this town I needed a place to stay the night while I waited for my hire car. Staying elsewhere in Dolgellau we decided to book a table in the royal ship hotel restaurant based on the sample menu on their website only to discover the menu we had to choose from was nothing like it at all. The Royal Ship has prime position in Dolgellau, in Queens square in the one way system. Built in the nineteenth century and subsequently extended in 1860, the building is very imposing and welcoming. We purchased KGB Deals vouchers for our stay, AND in NO WAY were we treated as any LESS of a Customer, as has happened at other establishments.... More
