Stayed here over the Easter weekend and it really is a fantastic family run hotel. Anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing break will not find better in terms of cleanliness, character, location and quality. The hotel seemed to be popular with local's who, along with the hotel staff were very friendly.

We regularly visit this area (mainly to walk Cadair Idris and holiday). The Gwernan Lake Hotel is always a great place to stay or just pop in for a beer or two. Polite, friendly (to both humans and dogs), clean and great beer (it’s a pity that the same could not be said about George III at Penmaenpool we had... More

We stayed here primarily due to it's location close to the path to Cader Idris and what a great place to unwind after your walk. Our hosts provided great service, were friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was great, bed comfortable and the little extras appreciated. Our room had two bottles of water, dressing gowns and slippers.... More

We are very keen to recommend Gwesty Gwernan to those looking for a break in the beautiful countryside of Wales. The owners have made a real effort to provide a confortable small hotel in this typically Welsh location with its remote feel. Add in the always-friendly reception and you have the basics for a very pleasant stay. We stayed as... More

early season and we were the only guests. Smoky brown coal scent throughout the refurbished hotel, real fire in bar and restaurant giving nice ambiance. Very warm welcome and even friendlier spaniels. The room was well finished, and cosy. Food well priced and nice local ale. Nice to be out of season, Sl melancholy feel overhanging the lake as nature... More

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again. Sorry that you felt that the room was a little cold. Since your stay we have installed new double glazed windows in the bedroom resulting in the room being much warmer. More

We stayed here over the new year of 12/13 and found it to be excellent in all respects. We arrived in the evening of new years eve and had a very good meal - freshly prepared salads and fish, good, modestly priced wine and excellent Wye Valley brewery beer. Breakfast was similarly very good and the friendly owner was very... More

The hotel is lovely looks great both outside and inside, great location next to a beautiful lake with a walk way. Excellent food with great options including several options for vegetarians. A very welcoming, warm and friendly service. I've stayed there many times and will continue to revisit. Had many good nights at the gwernan.

Our fourth trip to this hotel and we will be back early next year. This small family run hotel is next to a good trout lake (which can be fly-fished free on a catch and release basis) and situated right at the base of Cader Idris for those who want to try the climb. All rooms recently refurbished to very... More

Such a nice place, what a shame the expectation of a well earnt pint after coming down off the hills is met with such a dour-faced welcome. Probably one of the grumpiest landlords in Wales. Good beer though.
